Álafoss

In Iceland, there is a town called Álafoss. Sigur Ros records their music, there, and there are great wool factories where they make yarn. I just ordered $60 worth of indigo yarn from this place, and I will make with it a kimono. I'm mixing Iceland and Japan. Maybe I should take some inspiration from the Ainu of Hokkaido. They are uh, very Nordic. Quite caucasian, actually. Hairy bear people. I'll look them up.  Anyway, this yarn I've got is called Lett Lopi, and it's really, really coarse. I have to wear it over something, because it will chafe the hell out of my skin. It's gonna be like a goddamn scotch pad. However, it's 100% wool, and it's supposedly the lightest, warmest wool in the whole world. More water resistant than fucking duckfeathers. I'm making this in place of a winter coat, bitches. I got a dark indigo/navy color, and I hope it doesn't just...look retarded with all of my already dark blue winter clothes.

And speaking of the Northern European aesthetic, I found this picture.

This one drives me crazy like the moon drives the sun.

I finished my scarf yesterday. I'll start that retarded hat today. Hopefully I can finish it over the weekend.

I'm definitely on a Northern European kick. Scandanavia is back in power! However, I also watched Crouching Tiger and House of Flying Daggers last week, so I've also got a very subtle Chinese undertone to everything. I could easily go either way.  (What's new?)

There is ALOT of shopping to do, very soon. And I hate that. I hate spending money. I love the fact that I have huge amounts of money in savings and checking, and I hate getting rid of it. I've spent WAAAAAY too much money in the past few weeks, like, since May started, I think I've just sort of broke even. I've got about $1000 and I keep hovering around it. I need to become more miserly.

After the yarn, nothing.

I mean, except the following items I'll need for state college:
o. A laptop
o. Tea-Boiling Things
o. Uh, Textbooks
o.  A new pair of shoes?

Anyway, I'm bored and lonely and nobody emailed me today so I'm dissapointed and I'm going to have to knit instead of replying to lovely emails from the people of my tribe.
