You can read it however you like. I prefer to look at the intent of the message then the improper use of verbage. Any message could be overanalyzed by someone and something will be found lacking in that message. That is both the beauty and the horror of the written word, so I felt it was far more important that I look at the intent of the message which I took very simply to be...

"We want to know who supports gay rights. If you would like to announce that you support gay rights, feel free to post this in your journal."

They made it a little more complex then that but even in my simplified version I am sure someone can find a fault with my choice of verbage or grammer and feel that it is somehow "bad". I suppose I am ok with it because I didnt read it as anyone who doesnt do this is against us.

If you truly have a problem with the verbage, but you still want to show your support. Rewrite the verbage to what you consider a more acceptable level of non-guilt tripping and then post that in your journal under the subject of gay rights. If the message is truly as it seems intended, and they want to know who does support gay rights...then it wont matter what you post in the body...its the subject line that they will probably be doing a search for.

Just my 2 cents

I agree that the support behind the meme is good. And I do support human rights.

I didn't mean to come off as snarky as I did, I guess. My apologies. :)

I didnt see you as being anymore or less snarky then you normally are. It just seems a lot of people are taking offense at the wording of this meme and ignoring the overall goal. While that is of course the individual persons choice, I think they should stop and consider it from all angles and then make a decision.

I still think the best course of action for people who view it from your perspective would be to rewrite it and post it in a less verbally "abusive" format.
