The Reaper's Legend

Oct 12, 2011 16:48

Far away, in a desert ghost town, the Grim Reaper fell in love with a young witch.

It had been nothing but a routine accident at first, but observing the strange girl attending the dead with a naturalness unusual in mortals, had changed the Reaper's existence forever.

At first he only watched her from distance, but as his desire for the woman grew stronger, he dared to get closer and closer, even knowing it could bring dead and despair to her life.

And so it had been.

Unable to stay away, he had cursed her house with death, causing demise every time he sneaked in to see her;

incapable of watching her suffer, he punished everyone who ever hurt her, or tried to;

and unwilling to see her forming a life with any men, he had taken away each and every single one of her lovers, leaving her alone and loveless.

But as he had noticed her, she had noticed him.

In every death she witnessed, she had felt him, she had looked for him, she had seen him.

Nothing more than a shadow in the corner of her eyes, but she was aware of his presence and she wanted him.

"You took away everyone I ever care for, and left me in solitude. You wanted me for yourself, now you have me. Take me away with you! COME FOR ME, REAPER!"

She screamed every night, until one night, after old age had already reached her, Death finally appeared in front of her.

"Why do you want to die?"

"Because I'm old and I have no more reason to live. You take every man who wants to be with me, and yet, you don't let me be with you. You condemn me to be forever alone!"

The Reaper could see the pain on her eyes, and for the first time he felt sorry for her suffering, and guilt for being the one who caused it.

"What can I do for you, Olive?" He asked sincerely.

"Take me you!" She demanded.

"I can't do that. It's not your time yet."

The woman remained quiet for a while, thoughtful, but there was only one thing she wanted, if she was doomed to continue living.

"A child. I you don't let me have family with others, then give me a child yourself."

Death considered her petition carefully.

He destroyed families, he didn't create them, but he had broke all the rules just to be with her, and now she was offering to be with him forever through life created by them. Together.

The Reaper steeped closer and nodded slowly.

"That, I can do"

The End

This is only meant to be like a short legend-like tale, nothing else, so don't think much of it, and Olive is mentioned as a "witch" simply because things can be a lit' exaggerated in stories like this. ;)

I know that she's supposed to be the one who did all the killing herself, but somehow I can't really see it like that (or maybe is just me not wanting to make her a heartless black widow, but we can all have our takes on this, right?).

I used the ghost-like effect on the Reaper for some shots, because I thought it fit well with the idea of him trying to get close to Olive without her noticing him, but mostly because it looked really creepy with the reaper outfit :P

All the deaths are inspired by people in Olive's yard and memories from before growing old. The first person mentioned on her memories is the pizza delivery girl, so it made sense to use that event as the moment when the Reaper sees Olive for the first time. The man in the fire (inside the house) was Rigger Mortis (with just a slightly updated outfit) who actually died in a fire according to his ghost color. And Jic, in this shot I was trying to make it look like a lighting hit a cactus tree making it fall, but the rain was barely visible and the scene didn't come out too well.

Also this is the house makeover I did for the maxis_taste challenge, with a few small modifications, but I'll make the actual post for the dare, with better shots of the actual house, in a few days. (which may or may not include more shots of the Reaper and Olive ... and maybe their son too :P)

Hope you enjoyed this.
Thanks for reading!  :)
