Last night I attended yet another spectacular performance by Coldplay at the Oakland Arena. I saw them back in 2003 at the Hollywood Bowl, and it was the first concert that I actually enjoyed (no one of any substance ever came to Guam). However, thanks to an amazing new album and twelfth row seats, they were much more enjoyable the second time around. They opened up with Square One and proceeded to play fifteen other songs including my favorites, Talk and In My Place.

Highlights included Chris Martin running through the audience, and yellow glitter-filled balloons that descended on the audience and exploded upon contact. Oh, and not to mention an opening act by Fiona Apple, which was awesome in and of itself. However, my favorite part of the show occurred after they played the Johnny Cash song, Kingdom Come. They unexpectedly went on to play another one of his songs, Ring of Fire! It was all the more amusing because it had been our theme song in studio last semester... it would always be playing in the background and get stuck in our heads.

Anyways, I just wanted to re-enter the land of eljay on a lighter note, because everything to come isn't quite as cheerful...
