So today is the 15th anniversary of The Smashing Pumpkins defining album, Siamese Dream.
I can't even express how much this record means to me. It's been there since my early childhood; back before I even knew what good music was.
I only expect people who know how much I love this band to appreciate where I'm coming from. I've bought this record for people, I've played it everywhere, I even have formed amazing friendships through this album, and it has also been there for me through my roughest moments. Those amazing summer days where I'd walk the streets with this album serenading my ears time and time again, and many times, I've had a few people in mind while listening to this record that I've come to know very extensively, and that I still cherish to this day.
Honestly, where the hell does the time go? I was 9 years old when I fell in love with such classics as "Today" and "Disarm", and it was just the music and Billy's voice that I fell in love with. Of course as I got older (and a bit smarter), the album lyrically ended up meaning worlds to me.
I'm still very saddened that I could not see this band with its original line up, however, I do finally get to see the music I've loved for over a decade materialize itself into a very lush reality come August 17th, when I finally get to see The Smashing Pumpkins live. One of my life's goals is only days away from fruition, and I'm already in shambles over the whole ordeal. If any of the South Carolina kids are interested, look up the information on Ticket master. It's being held in Raleigh at 8:00 pm, and tickets are 45 dollars if I remember correctly (which is actually surprising to me).
I'm on a desperate (and probably impossible) search for the vinyl LP of Siamese Dream today, but if I happen to find it, I just may burst into tears.
Other news, I've got an interview with Sam Goody on Monday. I went in on Saturday to talk with the manager for a bit, who's quite cool and laid back. I'm quite confident that I will get the job, and it's a record store. A place I've always wanted to work at. :) The starting pay is normal minimum wage (which actually went up), but if I get paid by-weekly, things should work out okay.
