After some persistent whining from his jack russell, Alec put Amber's little dog coat on and attached her leash. It wasn't too cold outside, so he pulled on his hoodie and headed out of his apartment.

John was practically running down the street, there was a situation: with a lizard, and eggs, and something horrific would happen, pretty much like always. He wasn't really paying attention, he practically ran into this man coming the other direction with his dog.

Getting a little annoyed with his girl, as she was taking forever to find a place to pee, Alec sighed and waited, until he felt someone run right into him. He gasped as he stumbled and fell over onto his arse, a bit more than thankful that he hadn't let Amber's leash go. She'd be running all over the place.

"Oh, bugger, Sorry mate!" he offered a hand to the bloke he had run into, and then he saw it, his eyes widened and his mouth was surely gaping.

Rubbing his arse a little, wincing, he looked up at the apologizing stranger and then his eyes widened as well. Staring in shock for a good minute, Alec couldn't refrain the small sound of joy that suddenly came out of his mouth. He took the other's hand and got up, then started looking at his hand as if it was the most amazing thing ever. "Oh my god!" he smiled, looking back at the other, "It's you!"

"Of course it's me... Wait what, me?!" he was actually dumbfounded. Here he was looking at what could only be described as an exact copy of the doctor, wearing jeans and walking a dog... oh hell, it crossed his mind, he was basically just looking at himself.

Alec really couldn't refrain his joy - even though he promised himself if he ever got to meet the man, he would be calm and collected. To hell with that! "It's... it's really an honor, I really love your work," he bit his bottom lip, blushing a little. He remembered just last week he was basically sobbing in front of the tv.

"my work?" yes, it's true he saved mankind on a regular basis, but no one knew about it... so how would this bloke, who looked just like him. His look of confusion was probably overwhelming. And this was just way too odd, even for him.

Now, even Amber seemed to be acting good, sitting and wagging her tail as she stared up at the stranger, she seemed to recognize him. "Yeah, I mean, I've done some alright stuff, but..." he trailed off, "I can't believe you ran into me. Gabe's going to be so jealous when he finds out I met David Tennant!" he grinned.

"David Tennant? Who is David Tennant?" sure he had been on Earth for a while now, but he wasn't really into pop culture.

Alec rose a brow, "You are," he said, "You play the Doctor on Doctor Who... played..." he frowned as he realized his mistake, the reason he had been sobbing last week. "You really are this generations Tom Baker," he tried smiling again.

"the Doctor?! I KNEW you had to at least know the doctor! I don't remember you though" He raised a brow right back, pretty much making for a mirror image standing on the street.

Alec blinked, "Of course I know the Doctor, everyone does, well, if they don't, they're kind of living in a shell." he laughed and then bit his lip nervously. "Yeah, thought you wouldn't... I'm not that big an actor yet, but I think I'm getting there."

"Not everyone knows the Doctor. Oh bugger this is a bit confusing. I have this thing, I'm trying to go to," he paused... the doctor invited everyone along so it was his turn "You could come along, and explain how everyone knows the doctor"

Alec's eyes were practically sparkling, and he noticed that Amber looked rather excited as well, oh, she was a cute little thing, she had even been with him to watch last week too. "Sure, but I think it's rather obvious. You were the biggest news this new year," he said, but then shook his head. He didn't want to talk about things ending, he was sure David was a little tired of everyone talking about it. He was just a fan.

"right, off we go then" he started a quick pace down the road, this bloke following him, he had made it pretty close before the incident and they turned to a warehouse. Which if he really thought about it, John figured looked mighty creepy.

Alec rose his brow again in confusion, "Why are we at a warehouse?" he asked, still holding on to Amber's leash, at least she was being good, and seemed to be interested in whatever they were doing.

"yes right, um, something with work. will only take a minute" he gave what he hoped was a confident smile.

He looked down at Amber, who tilted her head cutely to the side as only a dog could do, looking back up at her owner. "Right, okay," he kept a look out, not really feeling good in this place. "Bit creepy, isn't it?" he said, keeping close to the other man.

"Yeah, sometimes. you know, it can be a bit... creepy" he shrugged a bit, really hoping this would be quick. It was supposed to be just a lone Ractophorx, which unless it decided to spit acid would be alright, really. Except for the tentacles... those could cause problems... oh hell, he really got himself in far too deep.

"What? Is this a new set, or something?" he wondered, keeping quiet for some reason, feeling like he had to. Oh man, he didn't think he could take it if he met Matt, he'd probably start crying again, looking at the two of them. Just thinking about it made him whimper a bit. He blushed and tried passing it for a cough, or something.

"Yeah, just here for a quick minute." he said opening the door, he figured pulling his gun would be entirely too much for the moment, he did grab his sonic. His sonic, which just happened to have fallen through the vortex, and he had snagged it before anyone noticed, technically stealing, but no one else would know the proper ways of using it.

Looking down at what the other had pulled out, Alec's eyes widened and another loud squeek seemed to escape his mouth and he reached up, covering his mouth, "You still have your sonic!" he made an 'aww' face before trying to collect himself again.

"Yeah, mine" he grinned. Where was this thing? It only took a moment before the green, tentacled monster jumped from behind a corner. "Oi, I'm here to help. No acid, I come in peace, etc."

Alec couldn't help but smile, but then once he saw the thing, his eyes widened even more, "What the-?!" he couldn't help but stare, and then he looked over at the other man. Alec was really confused now. He whipped around, looking everywhere, as if a camera crew would be around, "Are you still Ten?!"

"Not exactly sure what you are talking about" He held the sonic up still trying to convince the monster to not spit acid and devour their skin. He made a series of clicking sounds that the alien understood, but couldn't have sounded remotely good to the bloke he brought along.

Alec took a tentative step back, he still saw no camera, no crew, no one - this was strange. Amber was barking at the thing, making Alec shush her. "What are you doing?" he asked, very confused as he started making weird noises at the tentacled thing. "I don't think pointing a toy at it would do anything," he muttered, wondering why for some reason he felt threatened. It wasn't real.. was it?

And the thing bared it's teeth, the sure sign of impending attack. He hit the sonic quickly, he still had very quick reflexes. The noise of the sonic was know to knock these things unconscious and it did just that, the thing fell over, a little ooze dripping out of it's massive mouth. "Don't touch it" He said before pulling out his mobile

He stared in shock, "Okay, that was weird..." he mumbled quietly to himself as he looked at the unconscious creature. He took a step forward, though still behind the other man. "You really got into this role, huh?" he chuckled a bit.

He was on his mobile "Yeah, the unit is contained. was going to put up a fight. Yes I can wait nearby." when he clicked off his phone he turned to the mirror of himself. "One, not a role, two if you touch the stuff coming out of it's mouth your skin will melt off, and three, what is your name?"

Now things were just getting even weirder, of course, the thing oozing on the ground could speak for itself. "Alec Havelock," he said, his Scottish accent making it obvious where he came from. "I'm an actor too," he said, still believing that this man was David Tennant - couldn't have been anyone else. "I auditioned for the Doctor, but I didn't get it..." he chuckled softly, he knew he wouldn't get it. David was much better anyway.

"I'm not an actor" He eyed the bloke, Alec. Just like him but Scottish, how odd that sounded coming from his mirror. "I..." well he couldn't just explain his job, could he?

"What? ..." Alec trailed off, maybe David wasn't feeling very well, all of this was a bit much, wasn't it? He frowned, maybe he just couldn't give it up, and Alec could understand that, no one wanted him to leave. "Are you okay? I mean, I know it must have been hard, to... give your role away, but I mean," he frowned, he sounded like Erik, "I'm sure there's a lot of other opportunities for you,"

His palm met his forehead, lovely, now the bloke thought he was loony, that was brilliant. "Right, proof, need proof." he tossed the bloke his sonic, "you've seen one of these before, yes.. yes, right, so, what you need to do is press that button three times, then read the screen" Hopefully the DNA analysis would at least be a bit more impressive then something an actor could pull out of his pocket.

Catching the screwdriver just in time, he fumbled a bit as he almost dropped it - he wasn't all too coordinated, especially around someone like the man he was with. He knew he must have still been pretty red. "Yeah, I have one at hoo-..." he dragged on the word and then his jaw dropped. This sonic was a lot more detailed, and felt a bit more heavy than his own. Furrowing his brows, he did as he was told, watching as numerous things appeared on the screen, and he stared in awe. "Wow... mine definitely doesn't do this. Just buzzes and lights up," he laughed.

"those are your readings, from this very moment. And this thing, is very real." he smiled. he really wished he could pull out some more time lord tricks, but his telepathy was very minor, lacking in the skills of his two hearted rival.

Alec kept staring and then he looked over at the other, "... This doesn't make any sense," he breathed. "This isn't real, it can't be! That'd be impossible. It's impossible to make a sonic," he gave it back to him, a bit hurriedly. He looked passed him at the creature still on the ground, not entirely sure what to think.

"right, humans couldn't make this" he reached down and picked up a tentacle. "this part is safe, and very much alien" he offer for Alec to touch it, trying to give him some proof. "Torchwood london should be here any minute"

"Toshiko Sato made one," he smirked, thinking back on that one Torchwood episode, Fragments. He shook his head, reaching up with one hand to wipe at his eyes. "What? Torchwood? Now you're just sounding crazy," he said, looking at the other. "This isn't real, aliens aren't real." he was having a real hard time believing this. He merely looked at the tentacle, this was too weird, even for him.

"touch it, just. you have to believe me, um, I don't know what else I can show you. I don't have a TARDIS of my own, or I'd bring you to it" he shrugged a bit.

Alec reached out and touched it, feeling how slimy it was before he pulled back - it certainly didn't feel fake. He looked at him, ".... Who are you?" he finally just asked, deciding to play along. "You're not just LARPing?"

"I don't know what LARP is, so no. I'm John Smith." he almost held out his hand before realizing it was covered in alien goo.

"Live action roleplaying," he said, taking his hand, he touched the thing anyway. "You know, dressing up as a character and roleplaying?" he pulled his hand back, wiping it on his pant leg, "Wait- wasn't John Smith a teacher? All human and non-alien fighting?"

"No that was still the Doctor really, just using the chameleon circuit" and then it clicked in his head "Wait, how do you know about John Smith as a teacher?!"

Alec smiled, remembering the two episodes, it was rather cute, he thought. "Uhh... because I saw it?" he gave him an odd look. Sure, he could play along, but this still was a bit strange. Especially if the other kept up the whole "No, I'm not LARPing," thing.

"You saw it? well, ok John Smith the meta-crisis?" he didn't know how it would ring a bell but he figured he would try.

"Meta-crisis?" he repeated and then he smiled, "OH! Handy!" he smiled at the nickname - one could tell he was very much a fanboy. "The half-human Doctor, yeah? Wasn't he stuck in that parallel Earth?" he asked. Alec didn't know what he was doing, but this was interesting.

"Yeah, I've been called Handy." he smirked, so he had finally hit a chord. "Well, I made it here, but that's about it. Still no ship. now, how exactly have you seen these things?" he heard the Torchwood group make their way in and he was distracted for a moment as they asked a few questions and carted off the alien.

Okay, Alec couldn't really hear much of what the other said as he stared and gawked in surprise that people had actually come, just as the other had said, taking the thing away. "B-but... that wasn't... what?!" his eyes widened again, "You mean it's real?!" he continued to watch as they took it away, not hearing what the man had asked.

"that is what it means, mate. Now why you've seen these things, you'll have to let me know." he moved closer to Alec, encouraging him to lead them back out of the warehouse and into the cold.

Still awestruck, Alec walked out, Amber following obediently beside him as he simply walked. "It's all real?" he murmured to himself, slowly heading back the way they came from, where they had met, which had just been outside of his apartment. "You better not be pulling my leg," he said, looking over at him.

"oh I promise, this is odd for me as well" he chuckled. He wiped his hands off on his jeans as they walked.

Finally believing, because the fanboy inside of him just couldn't resist, he started laughing. His heart starting to race with the adrenaline and excitement, "You're kidding me!" he laughed, stopping suddenly and then kneeling, pulling Amber into his arms, "It's all real! I knew it!" he laughed, hugging her as she wagged her tail and licked his face.

He laughed as well, it was quite contagious. He found this whole situation to be rather amusing. He found his mirror, who knew about him, the odds were just outstanding, and here he was.

Letting her go, he looked at the other man, John - his eyes were gleaming. "You're amazing!" he smiled, tempted to hug the man. The urge was too great, so he did it anyway, wrapping his arms around him. He pulled back, "Come on, I'm not far from here," he said, nodding in one direction, "This is brilliant,"

The hug was a bit surprising, but nothing he wasn't fairly used to actually. As the Doctor it seemed much more along the lines of random snogs, so this was different. "A bit brilliant, I must agree"

Alec laughed again, "Oh, but it is! Maybe not as much to you, but... this is just amazing, you have no idea," he breathed, starting to walk again. He wondered briefly if it was a good idea to tell him, he was sure it wouldn't be very nice.

He followed, still in a bit of a happy go lucky mood. Maybe this could be fun, he had obviously made Alec's day, and that always was a good feeling.

The smile seemed to be stuck, and he couldn't shake it off. A few minutes later, they made it back to the apartment building and he headed inside, keeping the door open for John before going inside. "So, how's being human treating you?" he asked, still smiling, he almost couldn't get the question out as he headed to the elevators.

"fairly well actually, takes a bit of getting used to, the one heart thing. I can't believe I'm telling you this" he laughed. "I say it's because you look like me"

"Slower heartbeat?" he smiled, but then scoffed. He often got told he resembled Tennant, but he never saw it, even Gabe thought so, but then again, he always told Gabe he looked like Jack. He went inside the elevator and pressed the button to the third floor. He seemed to be bouncing on his heels.

"slower and less efficient" he chuckled, he really couldn't believe this guy couldn't see the resemblance, it was like looking in a bloody mirror after all. John couldn't help but wonder if Alec had the same mole between his shoulder blades as he did

He wiped at his face with one hand, and then glanced over at him, and yeah, he was still there. This wasn't a dream. The elevator pinged and he stepped out of the opened doors, turning and headed to his door, fumbling to get his keys out. Opening his apartment door, he went inside, letting Amber off of her leash and letting her run inside. He noticed that Erik's coat was gone, so he must have been at work at the hospital. "Make yourself at home," he grinned.

He grinned walking into the small apartment. It reminded him of the first one he got on Earth, before he got the job with Torchwood. "It's nice" and then he saw the bookshelf "holy shit, it that a miniature me?!" he was astounded at the little action figure

Alec beamed, he guessed that it was a bit too late not to tell him, it probably wouldn't surprise him all that much - he hoped. It would be pretty creepy, Alec thought, someone knowing everything about you, well, mostly everything. "So, I guess you want to know how I know you?" he looked a bit worried as John looked at the action figure.

"This thing is rather amazing. I want one." he turned it over in his hand "looks just like me.. and you really" he laughed. This was so crazy.

Suddenly Alec's eyes widened again, "Oh my god, are Daleks and Cybermen real?" he went over to him. That would be both amazing and terrifying all at once, and he could barely take this man, everything was just so surreal.

"well, Daleks are extinct now. Cybermen probably still exist somewhere" he smiled softly, he imagined this was a lot to take in.

Alec pursed his lips, "You can't kill Daleks, John. Not for good anyway," he shivered, even though he saw what the other man had done. "I know what happened," he bit his lip.

"well, I killed all of the ones that were there. And if that didn't manage to destroy my entire life, well, not that I had much of one. I'm basically just here to take care of that one situation" he shrugged he was a bit sad about it, the whole situation didn't end well.

"They're kind of indestructible, keep coming back no matter what," he said, gently touching his arm, "You did what you thought was right. I would have done the same thing. Well, if I knew what the hell I was doing," he chuckled.

"someone had to, really. Whole universe would have burned" his eyes met Alec's, and they were the same yet different. John's seemed far older than his months on Earth.

Alec chuckled, "The world is always ending in Doctor Who, don't sweat it, yeah?" he winked at him, though somehow, that probably wasn't very comforting. "It never does though," he reached and squeezed his hand.

"That's because of him, well, him and those of us here that help out. The damn Doctor has actually refused to show up because he was in his jim jams." he chuckled. The feel of a hand in his was not unwelcome, it had been a while since Rose had left him: though shagging the guy that looked just like him might put him into a whole new category of being vain.

Alec giggled, suddenly the thought of Jack's jar coming back to mind, that whole episode coming to memory. "It's a good thing Jack kept you," he giggled, "Wait, he's real, yeah?" he moved to sit on the large black leather couch. He motioned for him to come sit with him.

"Jack Harkness is very real, and exactly as you'd imagine. He'd have already tried to bed you" he smirked moving to sit with him, it was an interesting perspective, talking about his life like this.

Alec laughed, "I'm kind of sure I'd let him," he blushed red before shaking his head a bit. He smiled and then reached by the coffee table, picking up a framed picture, "This is my friend Gabe, doesn't he look like Jack?" he thought so anyway. Gabe was a huge geek though, and not very gay at all.

"oh holy hell, there are two of him" he let out a laugh "well, since there are apparently, what, three or four versions of me, I guess that's appropriate"

Alec frowned a little, he was sure now there would be three now, well, two, since he still didn't really see the resemblance all that much - maybe he was in denial. He put the picture back, "I could help you, you know... if you.. want," he blushed again a bit.

"help me with what?" he asked, actually rather curious. He had found himself a companion, if only he had a TARDIS. "I don't have a TARDIS, otherwise I would offer to take you traveling."

Alec shrugged, "Anything, if that thing back there was really real, I could help," he glanced down, "I mean, I'm sure knowledge would do some good." then again, anyone who watched the show could be useful. He felt like he was going to start rambling or something, so he shut his mouth. "... Are you going to go back?" he asked a moment later, with an almost sad expression.

"Go back to where exactly?" he got that distant look in his eyes ((and could hear 'this is gallifrey' playing in the background))

"Your ... the other world? I mean, I don't think... I don't think it's all dangerous here. No Daleks in the sky, haven't seen a Weevil, or any... spaceships, really," he said. "It's rather boring here," he laughed, but then he had to wonder. There was a Torchwood here, he had seen them himself..

"Nah, no need to go back, plenty of work to be done here" he felt himself doing that thing the Doctor was so good at, where he takes the truth of the matter and turns it into a happy little lie, deluding himself into believing it.

Alec smiled inside, feeling oddly relieved, he didn't want him to go so soon. "I think a lot more people would mistake you for David," he said, "Some do the same for me," he leaned back a bit, "I don't know, I guess it's there a bit..." he said, looking at John, as if studying him.

"oh it's there more than a bit" he studied right back "Have a mole between your shoulder blades or is that just me?" he grinned, practically offering to show it

Alec giggled and shrugged, "I'm not sure, I don't think I've looked at my back," he narrowed his eyes a little and leaned closer, as if really trying to see the resemblance, even though he saw it now, he was just denying it. He didn't want to be vain, or narcissistic, because well... he liked the other man. DT wasn't bad either.

He leaned in a bit as well "Eyes are a bit different"

Alec smiled, "I haven't seen as much as you have," he rested his head on the couch, still pretty close. "I mean, the memories too.."

"I'd wager you are lucky for it, not all of them are good" he reached to tentatively touch the other man's hair, "Does the hair still do pretty much what it wants and nothing of what you want it to do?"

Alec smiled, "Ever since I was a kid! Gabe thought I always used gel," he closed his eyes for a moment, he didn't know why, but he was one of the few people in the world that actually liked having his hair touched. "I'm sure you have good memories, sometimes you just have to focus on the good,"

"plenty of good, yes" and he realized he was flirting, well to be fair he was quite the flirt

Alec continued to smile softly, he wasn't much of a sad person, he always seemed to be happy, and he was. Not much could bring him down. He looked down at John's hand and then suddenly took it in his own, bringing it up a little, his fingers threading through - this man was amazing, like nothing Alec had ever seen. He had seen him through a screen, now he was here, very much alive and real.

His breath caught slightly, this whole situation was beyond weird and here he was enjoying every second of it. he thought he must be terribly vain for what he was about to do, but still he leaned in and gently placed his lips on their near identical pair

The kiss took him by surprise, but Alec found not by all that much, it was like he was anticipating it. He wanted it, really, so he kissed him back as his eyes closed. It felt strange, because his lips really did feel almost exactly the same, but it felt nice.

john was fairly captivated, just a kiss and he was feeling especially human. but he knew nothing about alec, what sort of life he was rudely inturrupting "I'm sorry" he said when he managed to pull away

Feeling quite literally breathless, Alec sucked in his lower lip, feeling kind of dazed. He was just kissed by John Smith. He let out a dazed giggle, a bit quiet. He lifted a hand to his mouth, his fingertips touching his lips before he looked at the other man. "It's alright,"

"it's just, I know nothing about you, you could have a girlfriend, or boyfriend or be married and I just throw myself at you, so yeah, sorry for that"

Alec's eyes drifted slowly to the table again, there, was a photo of him and Erik, his own Ianto, and he felt his heart drop a little. Then he looked at their hands, still weaved because he didn't want to let go, "I don't see a ring," he murmured.

"a valid point indeed" he took a breath, it had been so long, after Rose, then he threw himself into work, avoiding any sort of closeness. he let out the breath and kissed Alec again, this time with more fervor

Alec felt his heart start to race, and he briefly wondered how hard John would have to kiss him to make it sound like a Time Lord's. He moaned softly against his mouth, this was so strange, but he was loving it. He deepened the kiss, wanting to match his enthusiasm.
