I realize why I freak out when I have to write a paper, why I postpone the act until the night before (let's be frank: often the morning of). I write papers from start to finish; I don't go in sections; I don't analyze my argument; I think as much as I can, and then write the first sentence (which usually doeasn't occur until I know I have no other option than writing). Horrible, I know, and I'm jealous of anyone who can start without an intro paragraph or a first line, anyone who can drop one idea for a moment, write a couple sentences on another, and then return. All this, no doubt, explains why my essays are so hit or miss; everything is predicted in that first sentence, from that intro paragraph. Good news, though: I've written the first two sentences of this essay due tomorrow.
Fuck this shit, man, I'm gonna be a crossing guard or an elementary school librarian. Something pedestrian.
