I went to Fred Meyer today after work today to pick up a few things. I had Olivia with me.
While standing in line, there was a family in front of me with two little girls. The guy looked at my cart, put the little divider on the belt and offered to unload my cart for me. I was in such shock, that I didn't know what to say at first. I told him, "no thank you" and he said, "I really don't mind doing it." I again declined. I think I was in so much shock that someone was nice and pleasant and wanted to help. Then of course I felt embarassed for declining because I felt like I was being rude.
When the cashier was ringing up my purchases, she said, "wow, you're buying some healthy things." I told her I was trying to be good, and she said, "don't sell yourself short, you're probably doing great." Although I ate a tube of Oreo cookies yesterday, feeling sorry for myself, it was nic e to have her say that.
It was a good encounter with strangers today. Made me feel nice and pleasant.
