Okay, so after my complete failure to do so last year, I'm going to have another go at Nano this year ( Read more... )

i'm seriously thinking of doing it only because i always feel bad when i don't; i'd actually like to finish it one of these years.

Well then I will cheer you on. We can do it together if you want, I usually need a bit of bullying in the middle somewhere. I'm also happy if you want to rant about how awful it is, or try out ideas and discuss them or anything. I think talking about writing it keeps you going.

All the partly-written fics and stories on my hard-drive and countless notebooks would like to point that I don't either!

Excellent, then we will do that! Now I just need to have an idea of what to write! EEEK!

that's always the worst part! i wrote merlin last time and there's still 30,000 words of fic on my external harddrive :/

So far I've always done original fic for nano. For no particular reason, probably just because that's what I did the first time and it's gotten stuck in my head that way. And even the time I did get to 50k, the story wasn't finished and has been sitting neglected in the four years since. Ah well!

Are you think Merlin again (eek haven't seen current series, but tinterwebs is magic like that) or something diferent? (PS looking at icon - if you do Sherlock I will be very much in support)

i do have an originial fic that i started a while ago, so maybe i'll pick up on that this year. it would make a change!

haha. if i did do fic it would definitely be between sherlock and merlin. there's a sherlock fic i have in the works that looks like it could end up being ridiculously long :/

At least you have a concept of length! I think I just jump into a story without any real idea of what I'm getting in to! Maybe because I'm so keen on planning etc in my RL that when I come to fic it's just see what happens!

see, i hate the planning which is why i think it's easier for me to tackle the length. if i plan too much, the story just ends up in a completely different place so i try not to do too much of that. only fic has ever turned out well with planning and considering i've hit the 200 mark almost with fic, i think my track record is pretty bad :D
