A/N: So I have this poem/song thing (which I find really cute!) that I wrote forever ago that relates to this story, and I really want to post it now. The poem/song thing has spoilers though so I won’t post it no matter how much I want to. It’s suppose to be a song that Jaejoong writes (the music I chose doesn’t fit the words but let’s pretend it does because I’m no songwriter).

P.S. YunJae’s four year anniversary is October 27, 2016.

~*~*~*~*~

They were eating dinner together in the chic, modern looking kitchen when Jaejoong decides to bring up the subject of having children. He was so nervous thinking of what Yunho’s reaction might, he let the dancer dominate the conversation.

“Jinho really needs to learn how to coordinate both his arms and legs together. I taught his group first the leg movements and then arm movements because I could tell they were going to need a lot of practice. He seemed to get them just fine, but when we did both of them together the first time, he got the arms right and messed up the foot work. We did it again, and that time he got the foot work right but messed up the arms. Reminds me of you when we were first trainees.”

Jaejoong shifted in his seat across from Yunho, his nerves catching up with him especially at the mention of them being trainees. Why did Yunho have to bring up something they both worked so hard at only to end up failing tonight of all nights? Jaejoong rubbed the back of his neck with his left hand. “Ha, ha. Yeah.” He cleared his throat.

Yunho hadn’t seen Jaejoong look so anxious in a long time. “Something wrong Jae?”

“Um no, not really. There’s just something I wanted to ask you. Well more like talk with you about, and I’m not sure how you’re going take it.” Yunho reached across the table grabbing the other’s hand and squeezing it in silent reassurance.

‘You can do this. He loves you, you love him, and you both love children. Hwaiting!’ the composer mentally prepared himself. He sighed. ‘Here goes nothing…’

Jaejoong asked, “What do you think about us having children?”

“Children?” The sudden question threw Yunho off guard, and it showed on his face making Jaejoong more nervous.

So Jaejoong started to ramble. “I didn’t mean anything by it. Well maybe I did, but if you don’t want to talk about it’s fine. It’s just that I got this weird email today. I mean weird because I don’t know who sent it to me. Actually more like I don’t know why it was sent to me and it got me thinking about having kids. I know we’ve never talked about it before, but all my sisters’ kids love us, and all our friends say I mother them too much, and when I see you with kids, I get this warm feeling inside, and -”

“Slow down and take a deep breath.” The composer did just that. “There is no reason to be nervous.” Yunho stood up pushing his chair back, the chair making a light scrapping sound on the wood floor, and opened up his arms. “Come here, Boo.” Jaejoong went to Yunho and was wrapped in his husband’s embrace. Yunho kissed the top of Jaejoong’s head. “Let’s go to sofa in the living room where it’s more comfortable, ok? The rest of dinner can wait.”

“Ok.”

They walked into the living room and sat down. Yunho made sure to keep an arm around Jaejoong waist because he knew the gesture would calm Jae. He didn’t even understand why his husband was so edgy bringing up the subject of the two of them having children in the first place, however little did he know what information the seemingly innocent email contained.

Yunho looked Jaejoong straight in the eye. “I love you, Kim Jaejoong. I’ve known you for fifteen years, and in the six years of dating and the almost four years of marriage, not once have we talked about us having a family. I think now’s a good time as any to talk about it.”

“Oh, Yunnie… I love you so much. Do you think now is a good time to start a family?”

“Hm…” The dancer seemed contemplative, and Jaejoong wasn’t sure whether that was a good or bad sign. “Both our careers are going extremely well. I swear sometimes we have beat people with offers for us to work for them off with a stick!” joked Yunho, which brought a smile to Jaejoong’s face and in turn Yunho. “So we are financially stable, but busy with us working up to three projects at a time. We own our own home. Our marriage is solid and strong. We have friends and family that would support us. I guess the only questions are:  Would we both be willing to lessen our work load? How would we start a family, adoption or a surrogate?”

Jae immediately replied, “I most definitely would work less.”

“I would too, Boo.”

“I kind of thought about that last question today. Adoption is nearly impossible for same sex couples, and we would need to find an extremely open minded woman to be a surrogate for us, which would be hard to do. Remember when I mentioned I got a weird email today?”

“Not really. You were rambling and talking fast, therefore I only caught part of what you said.”

“Oh, well, um…”

“Why are you getting nervous again?”

Why was he getting nervous again? It wasn’t every day you get an email about a way for men to have babies, and it wasn’t every day that you talk to your gay husband about wanting to have his baby. “There’s no easy way to say this. The email was from a doctor from The Korean Institute for Reproductive Studies…”

Yunho thought, ‘Where is he going with this? What is The Korean Institute for Reproductive Studies? How come I’ve never heard of them before?’

“Yunnie? Are you listening?”

“What? Oh. I’m listening. How come I’ve never heard of The Korean Institute for Reproductive Studies before?”

“I don’t know. I looked them up online, and they’ve been in business for thirty years. Now what the email said is that they’ve come up with a way for men to become pregnant.”

“Wait… Let me get this straight…” He scratched the top of his head trying to process what he just heard. “They came up with a way for men to become pregnant.” Yunho was in shock. Males didn’t get pregnant, have babies. What was his husband trying to say?

“Yes.”

“What else did it say?”

“Basically that and to call the institute to set up an appointment for more information.”

“And you want more information.” It was a statement not a question.

Jaejoong only had an idea that more information was about what the procedure entailed, yet he was sure of what he wanted to do. “Yes. Like I said before, adoption would be hard for us and the right surrogate is almost impossible to find. How would we work things out with a surrogate anyhow? Would you be the biological father, would I? Would we mix the sperm up and not know who the father is?”

“You’ve really thought about this, haven’t you?”

Jaejoong shook his head yes. Why was Yunho being so difficult all of a sudden? Wait… The dancer didn’t change his mind about having children with him in the short amount of time they had been talking did he? Jaejoong frowned. Yunho had listed so many reasons as to why now was a good time! Jaejoong thought that had meant Yunho was on board with the idea of becoming a parent. The composer started panicking and rambling again.

“Have you changed your mind already? I thought you said you loved me and that we are equipped to become parents! You even said you would work less! Kids love us in case you didn’t know. My sisters say I’m a natural with their kids, and our nieces and nephews adore us. You always do those funny dances for them, remember? You and Junsu even teach a kids dance class together!”

“Jaejoong calm down.” It was hard for Yunho to understand how the other man’s mind worked sometimes. “I do love you. Nothing and I mean nothing will ever change that. Got that?”

“Yes. Jung Yunho will always love Kim Jaejoong.”

Yunho laughed. “I’m glad you understand. I’m just worried because men aren’t suppose to have children. What would other people say? You know the things people already say about us. What if something goes wrong? What if I lose you?”

Jaejoong finally understood that panicking about Yunho was irrational. His husband was just worried about him. If he wasn’t a man, he might consider the gesture sweet. “All the email said was that if we wanted more information, we should call and set up an appointment. That is hardly a definite yes to having the procedure.” He kissed Yunho.

“I understand that, but I cannot stand the thought of something happening to you because of the procedure or a pregnancy since I’ve been with you far too long and through far too many things with you to let any harm come your way.”

“Yunho, you can’t protect me from everything nor do I want you to. I’m a big boy and can handle myself. I’ve grown up a lot in fifteen years. I love you just as much as you love me, and I don’t want to cause you any pain. There is no harm in finding out more information about a procedure that would allow us to have a child that is a part of you and a part of me. If the risks seem like they’re too great, we can always tell the doctors no.”

“A baby that is part you and part me does sound nice, but still I don’t know.” Jaejoong decided to use The Pout seeing as he knew no harm would come from just talking to the doctor. He hadn’t used it in years, and he was getting too old to really make it look cute, not to mention it was a little bit girly. Cue the puppy dog eyes and jutting out of the lower lip.

“Jae~” Yunho sighed defeated. “Ok. We’ll give the institute a call first thing tomorrow morning.”

“Thank you Yunho! And if it doesn’t work out, we can always discuss the other options more seriously. I’ll go put away dinner while you get ready for bed.”

A/N: The chapter was getting long, and I wanted to post it as soon as possible, therefore I’ve decided to split it into two parts.
