My doctor gave me the finger!

Yes, it's true. I went in for my physical today. Generally speaking, she was pleased with my condition. My blood pressure has come down to a much more reasonable range. Of course, we won't know the rest of the story until the blood work and urinalysis are complete. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Work was a mixed bag today. On one hand, I made tremendous progress on my main project. On the other hand, I discovered I made a mistake in trusting an outside vendor. They told us a few weeks ago that some new, additional files we were going to start receiving would be exactly the same format as the files we are already receiving. With all the pressure of multiple projects and tight deadlines, I chose to take them at their word and didn't run the test files through my code. It turns out that they aren't EXACTLY the same format, rather just really kind of similar in a look-at-it-really-fast-out-of-the-corner-of-your-eye kind of way. Unfortunately, that's what I did. I'm not exactly sure how this one is going to turn out.

In other news, I had a relatively low-key birthday celebration yesterday so that was nice. There was a tasty dinner (which I just had leftovers of) followed up by cake and ice cream (which I will shortly be having leftovers of). I had already received my main gift earlier in the month (I LOVE my Nikon D90!) but I opened some small gifts of a couple of books and some original artwork (from Katy). Later in the evening, Mary and I played Rock Band 2 on the Wii until we hit a set of EXTREMELY hard songs that wore us out.

birthday, work, medical stuff
