Eventual Career Change?

Once again, I am investigating a possible future career change. While initially I was looking for something that didn't have a lot to do with computers, this particular option does still involve them. I've started researching what it would take to get into the computer gaming industry. I love playing computer games so it seems like a great fit from that perspective. Plus, my years of experience would still count for something even though it doesn't involve game development.

Part of that research was a cool email exchange with Scott Hartsman who, until November was the senior producer for Everquest 2 (which I am currently playing again and LOVING!) He gave me some insights into the various technologies used by today's major game studios. That's great information because it gives me some specific technologies I can choose to focus on.

In other news, I had a physical on Tuesday. Generally speaking, I'm still pretty healthy. My doctor did increase my blood pressure medication because it was still a little higher than she wanted it to be. She was also not happy about a mole on the side of my stomach. I'd had a punch biopsy done on it last year and although that came back clean at the time, it looked to her like the mole had start to grow back over the scar. She made me an appointment for a dermatologist for second opinion. She's also going to check with my insurance about a sleep study. I can't remember the last time I woke up in the morning feeling refreshed even on the (rare) days that I sleep in.

Well, I was going to write a little more, but since I'm at work right now, I should probably get to work. I'm not quite ready for that career change just yet.

career, medical stuff
