So another week has gone by. Work is okay, I suppose. I did have a rather downer of a day there in the middle of the week. Last week I mentioned that the lead programmer was very detail oriented. Well, this week he rolled back some of my changes (data validation before attempting to write user entered data to the database) with no other explanation than that I just need to follow the template. Basically, I was just to create a new page, paste the template code in, then find and replace variable names and object names to match the intended purpose of the new page. There was one other change I made that I thought was pretty clever because it eliminated a call to the database. Now, none of his template code had dealt with this issue so this was new territory. Yet he still ripped it all out and put in the new call to the database. Granted, this isn't a web app that will have thousands of people hitting it at once, but I still believe it's better to avoid hitting the database whenever possible. Apparently, I'll be doing things his way. Period.
Now I need to come up with something positive about the week to write about. Okay, here's something. I actually was pretty good about exercising this week. I walked during lunch at least 3 days of the week and did about the same number of days of morning bike rides. I know I must have been burning extra calories because I would get ravenously hungry in the afternoons. Unfortunately, that means trips to the death-food machines. I need to pick up some healthier snacks to take with me next week.
Last night was TV night. We watched CSI, New Amsterdam, LA Ink, and Thursday night's Daily Show and Colbert Report so we could watch them skewer ABC's debate. That was a fun way to spend the evening; on the couch with the remote in my hand.
That's about all the weekly highlights I can think of to journal about. I'm not saying nothing else happened, but I've only had one cup of coffee and my brain can't pick out any other journal-worthy events. Besides, I've been reminded that I need to get the recycling taken to the center before we go to an art show at Katy's middle school later this morning. Speaking of which, I've just been asked to get her up. Guess I better go.
