Reiassan has Goat-wives. How much better a fit for Animalia do you want? :) What did Eszhettozh's second eldest grand-daughter go on to do? Reiassan also has talking swords that used to be people. Have any of the goat-wives continued in such a way, as herder's crooks or in the carved and polished skulls of goats or maybe as a drinking horn? (What *do* the steampunk-era folks make of the talking weapons? Or are those all long lost or faded?) And I'm sure there's some holiday where people dress up as goats (and possibly hold cart races -- see, say, Lowell's human dog sled competition).

The harpies next door -- or the centaurs down the street -- meet (any of) the people trying to kidnap Junie.
