Janelle doesn't count as family until she has a child? Or a daughter? (I'm assuming she and Owen are married.) Would a son get this sort of fuss, or is this just for girls?
Is this character the same as Jaenelle from King(Maker) Cake, and if so, was that before or after this? I'm guessing before?
And Aunt Ruan was from the other side of the family (or rather, not from the maternal line), and not quite that sort of Aunt -- is that an oversight, or part of Eva's point in saying that they all have two families?
Oh! I got my names mangled. Ruan was dealing with Tansy's stuff, where Tansy was her aunt on her father's side (and also unmarried and childless and full of magic, but ... different tradition). My error.
