I found amusing the thought that the title should have something to do with (presumably Steve) needing things explained in single syllable words. (Because clearly he's having trouble grasping when they don't reduce it down to the explanation they'd give 'a five-year-old'.)

"Okay Steve, let's try this again. Fire bad. Vegetables good. No-no! Don't touch the stove!" :p
