hello all! i've had an eventful and enjoyable weekend. let me tell you what i did in reverse chronological order:
yesterday,
ava and spacecowboy310 spent the entire day at my place. we exchanged christmas presents, watched a few episodes of torchwood and doctor who, and ate a massive amount of food
spacecowboy310 gave me an awesome 3d coke can jigsaw puzzle, the raxman raving rabbids 2 wii game, and a lightsaber! ♥
ava gave me a hedgehog stuffed toy, harry potter clue [whichh we played and thoroughly enjoyed], and mementoes from her recent trip to cuba. for my upcoming birthday, she also gave me john winchester's journal and a huge tub of candy EXACTLY LIKE THE ONE JARED BB HAS IN THE S2 SPECIALS! ♥

A MOST EXCELLENT CHRISTMAS HAUL!
on saturday,
the bf and i watched avatar. i'd seen the 15 minute preview with
ava back in august i think? so i was definitely looking forward to the finished product. the story's nothing new - just think "futuristic pocahontas" but visually it's stunning. the cgi was mind-blowing and didn't seem fake even once, and the 3d was pretty cool. i dunno if it's 100% necessary to watch the 3d version but it definitely added to the magic.

on friday, i watched the road with
the bf. i had no idea what to expect since i haven't read the book it's based on, and hadn't even seen any previews. i only knew viggo was in it. but
the bf's a fan of cormac mccarthy's novel, so we decided to check it out. i really enjoyed it. it's depressing as hell and had me sobbing almost the entire time. of course i can't comment on whether it measures up to the original source, but i think it's worth checking out. there's a quiet desperation throughout the entire film, viggo's acting is strong, and the cinematography is starkly beautiful.

oh supernatural fandom, sometimes you really test my patience and provide me with major lulz SIMULTANEOUSLY. here is a link to the insanely ridiculous iconwank that went down earlier this week. after spending years in various fandoms, how come no one informed me that ~special privileges~ are required to use certain icons? i love how idjits from my primary fandom end up pissing me off more often than anyone else. IRON KNEE.

: wincest. in which lucifer pays sam a visit and shows him how what he wants most could easily be his if he only says "yes". really liked this ficlet b/c it captured marksha's way of talking so well. the first vision was the most heartbreaking [and the loveliest for that reason], and i enjoyed the conclusion too.
2) all that i'm good for by witling
: wincest. this one made me happy and sad at the same time. happy b/c you can see the temporary respite the boys bring each other, and sad b/c life's hard and really shitty at times. what i liked best is how the characters acknowledge that the situation is insane and fucked up; they don't gloss over it at all, not even in the end.
3) give me the light of your love by rejeneration
: wincest. good lord, so beautiful. it's intense and rife with emotion, and will make you yearn for the connection between sam and dean. an utterly gorgeous piece of writing.
4) chase you down until you love me by candle_beck
: wincest. i don't think it's necessary for me to explain why i'm reccing this. everything i've read by candle_beck has been phenomenal, and i know friends from various fandoms will agree with me. it rocks to have such talented multi-fandom writers, no? such a gift. this one's full of angst and yearning and consuming emotion, but the resolution will have you smiling and sighing contentedly.
5) you can trust me not to think by _mournthewicked
: j2. porn that's hot enough to curl my toes, and schmoop that's sweet enough to warm my heart. i dunno what i like better - jealous!jensen or toppy!jared. they're both ridiculously hawt
6) come pick me up by standing_fic
: j2. lovely porn where the boys get down and dirty, and constantly struggle for dominance, even when they're submitting to each other. HOTTTTTTT.

: wincest. outstanding fic set in s5, that manages to capture the winchesters' relationship perfectly. the characterisation is spot on, the pacing is just right, and i love the intensely atmospheric feel of the piece. this is one way wincest would pan out if it were ever going to be canon. definitely a fave from spn_j2_xmas!
