spent the last cuppla days studying for the 2 finals i have this week, finishing off season 3 of dr. who [gonna miss martha so much, boo!] and watching movies.
1) fantastic mr. fox: saw this on saturday with
the bf and loved it! it's a very smart adaptation of roald dahl's story, the stop-motion animation is really neat, and there's a lot of witty dry humour. i don't think little children will be able to grasp the movie, but older kids and adults will definitely love it! plus, it features voice work by george clooney, meryl streep, michael gambon, willem dafoe, jason schwartman, and jarvis cocker!

2) thomas kinkade's home for christmas aka the christmas cottage: watched this last night with perfumaniac and jell0_ and jesus christ. that's 2 hours of our lives that we'll never get back. it's insipid, bored us to tears, and made us want to shoot everyone on screen. none of us cared even the slightest about any of the characters, and bb jared was on screen for FAR TOO SHORT A TIME. seeing him in knobbly sweaters and geeky woolen hats was the only positive thing about the movie - so if you want to see jared look incredibly adorable with his floppy hair and dimples and cat eyes and silly winter gear, just fast forward through this idiotic flick and skip everything but his scenes.

3) the prisoner: forgot to mention that i saw this remake with
ava 2 weeks ago. personally, i liked it quite a lot. it's very trippy, is sometimes hard to follow b/c of the flashbacks and weird mindfuck scenes - but i'm a HUGE sucker for stories about dystopian societies, so it's not really a surprise that i enjoyed it so much. also, i was very happy when my interpretation of certain events ended up being correct ;) plus it has sir ian mckellen! and jamie campbell-bower [WHO LOOKS SO FREAKING PRETTY I WAS TRYING NOT TO MAKE GRABBY HANDS AT MY TV]! and james caviezel! it's a 6-part mini-series/tv movie so keep that in mind if you're considering watching it.

: wincest. asjdhsljf. she managed to pack in such intensity and raw feeling into this ficlet that i'm still quite dazed. as per usual, it made my mouth water and my skin feel too tight, and i loved that there was a healthy dose of angst and self-sacrificing!dean jam-packed with the filth. very gorgeous!

: j2 au. i have to admit that i'm quickly tiring of the college au premise b/c it's SO overdone - but like the fic above, this author managed to take things in a different direction. both jared and jensen are adorable, all the supporting characters are interesting, the plot itself is sweet and entertaining, and it definitely left me feeling good once i was done.

: bentley/impala, sam/adam, aziraphale/crowley/castiel from go_exchange. OMG. I FUCKING LOVE THIS SO MUCH. i don't even know which panel's my fave b/c THEY'RE ALL GOLDEN. there's crowley and his bentley racing dean and his impala! sam and adam kissing, which is like LUCIFER!VESSEL/ANTICHRIST LURRRVE. not to mention aziraphale and crowley helping cas "go native". UUUUUUUUUUUUUUNF!

: another installment in fera_festiva's most excellent steampunk series - and this one's a hp/merlin crossover! like i told her, i love the poses, the weaponry and the clothing, especially morgana's little hat & veil, and the way she's holding up her skirts as she assumes a battle stance <3

: morgana/gwen from camelotsolstice. how pretty is this art? i am in love with morgana's face and both their clothing. the detailed patterns of the outfits and the way light shines off gwen's armour are my favourite aspects of this piece.
