'ello friends! i spent the day shopping for xmas presents with
ava although both our bank balances are in dire straits, lol. besides gifts for friends [which i am not at liberty to discuss], I PICKED UP SOME AWESOME THINGS FOR MESELF and ALSO REACHED AN IMPORTANT DECISION!
i got cute xmas-themed pjs from old navy, an adorable fluffy stuffed sheep from bath & bodyworks, and a kickass polaroid photo album from urban outfitters for myself \0/ UO's camera section had me salivating and cursing my unemployed state since i want to buy EVERY single SLR they sell [and even the cutesy novelty cams!] siiiigh. i guess once i have some $, that'll be my first destination, heh. i also dragged
ava along to my last employment safety class, which only lasted 45 mins since the TA simply read things off slides. i'm glad it ended so early since i was hella tired!
yep, you read the lj-cut correctly. the most recent haircut [or trim, rather] is no longer pleasing since the bangs don't sit properly. i trimmed a few sections myself but the entire fringe still looks odd. i think i'm going to get a layered bob like THIS. it would probably look more like THIS given my fine hair [and if i don't use texturising products]. what d'you think?
i haven't had short hair since i was 17. up to that point, my hair used to look like THIS. but ever since i started growing it out, it's always been around mid-shoulder length. high time for a change, y/y? i've been itching for shorter hair for the past cuppla years but kept backing out since i wasn't sure, and also b/c
the bf really likes long hair on me. [since this is the only thing he ever fusses about, i know it's something he feels strongly about]. but tonight i told him i really need a change and am tired of the way i look, to which he said i should consider getting horns or an eyepatch *rolls eyes* so in other words, i think he'll be okay with it as long as he can still play with it

FIC RECS
1) red rose and lily white
: scorpius/lily, scorpius/rose from hp_triangle. i recced this one recently on quibbler_report and for good reason. it's melancholy and heartbreaking but the angst feels.."quiet". i have no other word for it. what i mean is that the angst is present but not overwhelming, and it mirrors lily's decision to accept that her life isn't going to work out the way she thought it would. it's realistic, and feels natural, and i think well worth the read.
2) holiday trimmings by watermaline
: dean/castiel. THIS IS BASED ON THE PROMPT I SUBMITTED FOR THE DEAN/CAS HOLIDAY CHEER COMMENTFIC MEME! *dances* it's really cute and sweet and adorable and put a HUGE smile on my face, which is exactly what i needed after a long and stressful day. plus, my prompts never get filled so i was grateful someone actually felt inspired enough to write fic based on it!
3) crazy for you by loolookitty
: dean/omc, pre-wincest. nnnggggggf this is just brilliant, yea? usually i'm not one for heavy OC involvement but god, i want the OC in this fic to be canon - and much of that has to do with the fact that he reads vonnegut and cummings and neruda, [who are intertwined with my own concepts and memories of first time love and all that jazz ♥] i've always been curious about how dean knows his vonnegut so well, and this is a beautiful explanation.
i also really like how the pre-wincest elements are already present here, with kim being similar to grown up!sam, and dean's simmering attraction towards his brother. this fic made me think and laugh and cry and yearn, which every good love story should. just wonderful!

: wincest. ohhhhhhhh boy. the first part has toppy!sam trying to persuade dean he's hotter than ever with the aid of gorgeous mirror!sex, and pie. and the sequel has RED LACY PANTIES. OMG SO FRIKKING SMEXY.

: j2 au. i was craving some well-written j2 au and voila! found the last installment to arlad's pump up the volume verse. this piece can be read on its own [although the impact would be greater if you read the first 2 parts, both of which are short like this one is]. there's lovely angst and humour à la chad, and a wonderful conclusion that made me grin ear to ear. simply adorable.

2) harry potter stars attend t4's stars of 2009 event: look how cute tom felton, bonnie wright and matt lewis look - especially tom and bonnie! [the draco/ginny shipper in me just sighed happily, hee]. but i've complained about this copious times before and i'll say it again - why do the directors never let bonnie look like her pretty self in the flicks? i mean, just look at her here! why do they keep insisting on making her look like a plain jane?
