changed my layout. i'm quite happy with it, although god knows how long i'll get to use it what with the Cloud of Doom hovering over livejournal?

speaking of which, here is the official press release about the situation. as i mentioned in my previous post, 2 good softwares to look into at this time are lj archive and the lj backup toolkit. you may also want to transfer all your entries to insanejournal via lj sec [thanks to abusing_sarcasm for this tip].

on a less distressing note, earlier today neil gaiman was babbling in that adorable way of his about lou reed and leonard cohen, and specifically about how a friend has decided "gaiman is really cohen in disguise and feasts on women's pineal glands to stay forever young". i would tell you all about how i drooled over the idea of gaiman singing cohen and reed to me and how i commented that he could have my pineal glands at any time, but instead, i will share a quote of his:
If you don't like a book I've written I won't take it personally: I'm not the story, after all. But if you don't like a recording of me reading something... well, it was me sitting in that studio for three days reading aloud to a director and engineer in another room, for an imaginary audience, and yes, it's personal.
good point, yea? ever since i had to do those voice recordings for work and was told by my manager and co-workers that i've a soothing voice, i've been throwing around the idea of narrating a book i love just for the heck of it and putting it up online. i wonder if i should now reconsider this venture..

anyway, i was planning to read a few more hd_holidays fics in between working but was too busy to do so. don't forget my full rec list of art from the fest is now available, with additional commentary here. i will be making a more comprehensive post probably sometime tomorrow with other recs. and i'll be posting some photos from my recent trip to bangladesh later tonight unless the crazy blizzard waylays me. cheers.
