My week off last week was incredible. Got back into my Insanity routine, started working on the yard, and put away so much stuff--our housework is really winding down. Soon it should just be the regular weekly chores.

Still painting downstairs, putting away some items, and doing electrical work, but nothing huge is looming over us anymore.

I am checking back in about that position I was nearly hired for and hoping for some good news. Returning to this job after a week off really makes it clear that I need to get out of here. A few people commented on how well rested I looked after I got back...and that directly relates to not having been at work for 9 days and dealing with all its stress.

Anyway, been researching trees for the yard. My beloved, much-yearned-for Japanese maple can't tolerate Minnesota winters (it's a zone 5 plant, and we are a zone 4), so I am giving up my dreams of having one of those. Looking at substitues--there's one with similar leaf shape and structure, but the leaves are not red year-round (Korean maple).

I was also warned away from the Eastern redbud for the same reason (too cold of winters), which was my other most wanted tree. However, after some digging, I discovered there is a "Minnesota strain" of that tree which should work fine. My parents' neighbor has had one for over ten years now, so obviously it survives here!

Still no internet at our house, which I am trying to research now and then. Otherwise, I only get on during my lunch at work.

Still trying to save up for Puerto Rico.

Attended my first Hmong wedding last weekend. Dang, THAT's what this post was supposed to be about! I knew I had a reason to post, but I couldn't remember it and just blabbed on and on. Now my lunch is almost over. I'll try to do it another time.

Checked out of our apartment. I'm happy to say that our hours of cleaning seemed to pay off--the lady had no complaints and nothing to charge us for except our missing visitor parking pass. But we'll see how much of our deposit we actually get back later this month.

So excited to buy some gardening tools so I can really work on all my gardens! A coworker and my parents gave me some plants already, plus I bought a few types of sedum to plant. I just need a shovel now.

Also ordered the Rae Carson books from Barnes and Noble. I couldn't get them out of my head, but every place I looked did not have them! I couldn't believe our library carried the novels, but none of the actual bookstores did. So I ordered them and will eagerly anticipate the final in the trilogy!
