I need a day like this every week.

Today was a wonderful day. All about relaxation and taking time for myself. Especially after making it to 10,000 words last night, yeah!

Christian is out of town at a funeral. So it's like this weekend is to make up for last weekend when I really wanted some self time and never got it. Took a hike in the woods, meditated, sang, and even read some Death Note. Almost done with the series, and I had sure forgotten a lot that happens after book 7! Eight was hard to stomach, but things picked up again in 9, and by 10, I am hooked again.

Random note: Blackmore's Night is still my favorite music to sing. I love belting out those songs!

Then, I checked my email and had about fifty emails from ff.net. Someone reading a couple of my stories left reviews for every single chapter (one, naturally, is Twice Upon a Time)! Means so much to me! ♥ And it reminds me that that parody style is kinda similar to the style of my current work. In fact, I think it's "my" style. Well, maybe. When it comes, it just comes so naturally. But then, when I don't think about doing that style, I tend to lose the humor and write darker.

So many people talk about writer's having one style, and when I think about some of my favorite authors' books...yeah, they are very similar in stylistic traits, even when the novels are unconnected. In fact, some of them are so similar it's like reading about the same characters in different scenarios, even when they aren't the same characters. And some books almost repeat the exact same lines! There's definitely a strength to having a strong self style. You know what works for you and you use it. I'd like to develop mine further.

But at the same time, I really appreciate music (and stories) with variety, like Train or Blackmore's Night. Songs that all sound the same (the same style) are boring, like The Script. When a song starts and you think it's two other ones because it sounds the same, but it's actually a third one...well, I hate that. And I like seeing my stories with so many variations about them, whether tone, style, characterization, or plot. So I haven't made up my mind if I'd prefer to have one style or be working on a few.
