I don't have to host a high school honor band student this weekend, after all! I only had to do it one year despite being in band four years, and the one time I did host someone, the two of us were really similar and hit it off...I guess I'm lucky in some areas.
Absolutely gorgeous day, and most of my homework plans for the night are completed! Just some studying and reading to do while the trick-or-treaters come 'round. Can't wait to go on my bike ride around the lake, though this wind will make things difficult. And more fun. :)
Been thinking about gender issues.

I received a gift certificate for Amazon.com for my birthday. And I have absolutely no idea what to get. Nothing seems worthwhile. I could get gifts for someone else with it, but I kind of promised myself to get something for myself. It was my birthday gift, after all. But...*shrug* I can talk myself out of buying anything, and there's really not much I want when I actually think about it. Food. Does Amazon.com sell food?
The real, truth-only, egocentric, selfish reason I am not going to be in band next semester: there's not enough room. We have so many people in band that all the chairs have to be squished in, and you CAN'T PLAY FLUTE WHEN YOU MOVE ONE WAY AND HIT THE PERSON NEXT TO YOU, MOVE THE OTHER WAY AND HIT THE STAND OF THE PERSON BEHIND YOU! Caorann needs her space. And there's nothing like feeling you're useless until you're a flute player in the midst of thirty other flutes who're always told to play quieter. If I don't play...we're still told to play quieter. And tonation! It's one of those things where no matter what you personally do, it might not make a bit of difference. Frustrating to the extreme.
*sigh* Well, I have to go be squished for an hour and a half now. I can only make myself so small and so quiet before I disappear entirely...
