The Chaotic Preparation of Getting Married

Getting married in asia, moreover if you're of a chinese decendants isn't a simple thing. There are steps to it, the parents meeting up, the setting up of the date, the dowry hand-over to the bride, and the bride bringing the dowry and her own stuff to the new house. Mine was as chaotic :p Unlike the groom, the bride needs to prepare and buy or get a lot of things, things like clothes, undies, dining set, tea set, cooking set, pillows, bedsheets, towels, not only for her, but she also gets to bring clothes and towel for the husband-to be as a gift. Well now, all of those stuff are just normal stuff, right? But hear this, you also need to bring an umbrella, a long cloth to carry a baby, and a pee-pot. Yes! A pee-pot. Actually, these got to do with people in the olden days (possibly in china) had to go quite far to pee at night, so, you need to have your own pee-pot ready. But I, as a nodern woman, whose bathroom is just 5 steps away, thinks that there's no need to bring a pee-pot :d Among other things, usually your parents would give you some 24k gold accessories for you to keep. There are also lamps to bring and 4 types of sweets for you to bring (and boil for your in-laws the morning after the wedding). These things are carried by your relatives (has to be those who are married or single-for some families singles aren't allowed), widows or those who has problematic marriage are not allowed. The groom's family will be receiving the things and put them in the couple's bedroom-to be. After everything is settled, then only the bride to be is allowed to go inside the house. The night before, the bride's family usually comes to help the bride decorate her new things, and usually the teasing begins, as for me, my aunt started making jokes like "why are you bringing so many bras? You won't need one..hahaahaha" and everybody laughs. Or when they were folding sleeping attire for the groom, they teased me like "this is the pants...and this is how you take it off" -____-;; all I can do was smile and the teasing went on and on. After the wedding party, the bride isn't allowed to go or see her parents until the 3rd day. She'd go visit her parents and bring some gifts. It all seems fine to me until my aunt pointed out that I must bring an UMBRELLA!! Freaking umbrella -___- omg!
