Time hunt

Jul 25, 2009 06:27

This is my version of trying to talk through my decision/ bounce idea off someone without having anyone here to actually talk to. (And it kills time in this terribly boring meeting today that I have little interest or input in.)

I've been casually looking for a watch for a while because I've had the same watch since I was 17, and I want something nicer. Lately the search has come more pressing because my current watch is starting to act strangely, and I don't think all of the problems can be explained by the battery starting to die. (Twice in the last month the entire watch has been reset when I tried to set the time.)

I found one I thought I liked but it went out of stock before I finally decided to get it. It wasn't exactly what I wanted but was the closest I'd found until now. It was a digital watch with a blue leather band with an alarm, dual time zones, timer, and backlight. The problem with it was it wasn't quite as nice looking as I hoped to get. It was actually very similar to the watch I have now.

, mine:

Today I found the watch I really want. It cost about 3-4 times what I was planning to spend though. There are a few others that are more in my price range that are not terrible either. A year or so from now when I have a real job, the price difference won't seem like such a problem. If it lasts as long or longer than my current watch, the price isn't bad for something I'll wear every day.

1. This is the watch I think I want. It looks dressy but is still a digital watch with multiple alarms, dual timezones, a timer, backlight, etc. It's expensive though.
2. This looks to be an older version of (1) I found on ebay. Casio has no documentation about it on their webpage. It's significantly cheaper than (1) but it doesn't have a timer. (I use the timer on my watch at least once a week for cooking or doing laundry.)

3. & 4. I kind of wanted a leather band but I don't think I like the pink or the white leather. (These pictures have a more realistic picture of what the face of (5) and (6) below look like.)

5. & 6. before I found (1), these are the two I was deciding between. They have all the same features as (1) but are strictly digital. I wasn't sure which one looked nicer. They are easily in the price range I was thinking of paying.

I've always had Timex watches so I'm slightly wondering what the Casio's are really like since I've never seen one in person.

Bottom line:
1. Expensive but has all the features I want and looks very nice. (The only problem is I would have to get it without seeing it because it is not sold in the US, though they might have a similar version I could see at the jewelry store.)
2. Nice look, but missing one of the main features I use on my watch.
3. & 4. Pretty much ruled out.
5. & 6. Both have all the features I want at a good price. Not as pretty as 1.
