So far from home, but with the amount of rain and fog its like we never left SF.
Other than the rain hawaii is treating us awfully well. Hilo was amazing and made me wish that we could afford to live in such a lucious live location. So much greenery, water, waves, mars like landscape, all within just a few miles of eachother. Just perfect. Well except for all the rain.
The hawaii electronic music festival was pretty fun overall. All three nights were very different in feel due to varied venue locations. The last night, saturday, was definitely the most epic, taking over an old theater in downtown Hilo. The music was loud and abundant and all our friends had a great time dancing away to aaron's set.
The house on Hilo was just amazing. Two waterfalls on the property, one of them just a few yards from our house, pigs and ducks, lots of green, and a row of tropical fruit trees ripe for the picking. The rambuton blew my mind and is by far my new favorite tropical fruit. How could something so funny looking taste so damn yummy?! I also tried my first fresh passionfruit, guava, and breadfruit (which you apparently have to cook beforehand). The massive banana trees gave off wonderful little bananas that both we and the ants enjoyed. Yum!! I could live off of hawaii fruits!
Petunia the pig on the property. She was in heat and very friendly to us.
At the blow hole. Yeah, it sounds dirty.
More to come when we return to the mainland.
