By this time next year, Soner and I hope to own our first home. By this time in 2 years (maybe a smidge more), we hope to be in Germany.

Strange, but now that there's just a little tighter leash around what time frame we're looking at, it gives me a LOT more to look forward to. With Soner next to me I can browse flats, but he has to be here because I can't read German. Hahaha. It's just amazing how affordable a flat is, one that has wood floors, a balcony, etc. And most of what we found is at least 10 minutes from the center of Esslingen, which is where we want to be.

It will be so amazing to get out of bed each morning and walk to the bakery to get fresh bread for the day, sit with the windows open in the summer and look out at the greenery and the cobblestones. Snow and festivities in the winter, none of this silly humidity. Fresh food and clean air.

I'll be sad to leave friends and family behind. I believe that some of them will visit me, but it IS expensive. So I sort of think that I won't be seeing anyone too much once I move. I know my grandmother will visit (in fact I don't know if I'll be able to make her leave!)...

Actually, it would be really cool if my grandmother and grandfather moved there permanently. I know my grandma considers her time in Germany some of the best years of her life. But they stay here because my grandpa's asthma is helped greatly by the humid air. Blaaah.

Germans don't barbecue though. So I might have to have someone ship me a tabletop grill. Because I can't NOT grill, especially if it's nice enough in the summer to be outside and have fun.

Anyone who wants to move with me is welcome to do so. :D
