Running down the street Scott looked back at me and said "This is another bizarre and thankless situation you've gotten us in."
"Oh like you've never been in a fight before, like you've never caused a scene; Anyways shut up Scott, you're not even really here."
This ain't the worst we've seen, we've been through worse than this, we will live to laugh at this.
"Just shut up and keep running, and what did you say to make that guy so angry?"
Scott smiles, I burst through a restaurant to their kitchen back-door. The cooks look up startled as I trip across the floor.
"You used to be so good at getting out of things, Scott. How come you never taught me that goddamned trick?"
Outside the restaurant we're sizing up the fence. Am I going to get over that thing? I've been through worse than this, I will live to laugh at this. I'm sick of it, Scott, running, jumping roof to roof... it's scary.
"I'm sick of it, Scott, fighting! Sometimes winning, sometimes my jaw needs icing. I do think that I'm funny, but someday it'll be one bon mot too many."
"I honestly don't know if I'm gonna make some of those leaps."
I gesture up and a figure in the window waves, Hi!
"There has got to be some smarter way to deal with all these creep."
Scott furrows his brow, purses his lips and says "There has never been a time when brains have not won over brawn, and we will live to see the dawn."
"And Scott... you're still not really here."
"We all do what we can where we can, Pete."
"Get home safely."
I will, I do, I always do.
"I miss you, you bastard."
I will, I do, I always do.
"There has never been a time when brains have not won over brawn, and we will live to see the dawn."
"And Scott... you're still not really here."
"We all do what we can where we can, Pete."
"I'm sick of it, Scott, figting! Sometimes winning, sometimes my jaw needs icing. I do think that I'm funny...
...and that's what I said to make that guy so angry."
