I have acquired a bike! Well, rather, a bike has been acquired for me as a birthday present. It's an awesome Trek 7100, and his name is Virgil. Yeah, yeah, all the 'going to Hell' jokes have been said. Funny enough, that's not why he is called Virgil. He is called Virgil because his frame color is listed as 'root beer' in the inventory (for those of our outside of the US, Virgil's Root Beer is a damn fine beverage). :D

I took him for an inaugural ride today. I actually had to take him for a ride, since in all the excitement I left the lock keys at the bike shop. I also popped by the library. I have to say that perhaps I should have chosen a closer destination for the first ride. After all, I haven't had a bike in 8 years. 10 miles full of hills (I didn't realize our town was ONLY hills) were... somewhat challenging.

There are two great trails near our house, so I'll be exploring those later too.

In other news, I learned to read Farsi. Mostly because I thought it was a cool thing to do. Also, Farsi is a language I've wanted to learn for many years. I conquered teh alphabets, but that doesn't mean I can read, since Iranians (in)conveniently do not write half of their vowels. I can also now say awesome things like 'I opened the window' and 'I cleaned the table yesterday'. Indispensable vocabulary.
