So, where were we?

We came back from Groton, which was an adventure in an of itself. In an attempt to bypass I-95 on Friday afternoon, we decided to go through Pennsylvania. When we reached the not-so-lovely town of Scranton (it was probably lovely at some point, now it's mostly half-abandoned), the GPS started taking us through some weird alleys, across the river, into downtown Scranton and to the front of the seediest bar on the planet called Canada Dry Lounge. Mom finally got tired of this and said to my brother: 'See what's ahead, where is it sending us?' Brother: 'Um, it says we have arrived?... Is there anything you would like to tell me?' Then mom remembered that she just plugged in some random address in Scranton to avoid I-95. It just happened to be the most disreputable dive in all of universe. Much hilarity ensued.

Then we ran out of gas two miles from our house. We didn't realize that while normally the car can run forever on a handful of gas, this time it was carrying a huge plastic bin full of crap and two sea bags on top. Our intrepid navigator failed to notice that gas was about to run out, and so we ended up hanging out for an hour at our exit on the Beltway until the AAA people came and provided us with gas. We amused ourselves by watching cars almost collide at that exit (the design is somewhat retarded, it's both an entrance and an exit), eating candy we bought at Cracker Barrel, and waving to our house, which we could almost see through the trees.

That weekend we also had our 1st International Pie Day (not to be confused with Pi Day on 3/14). The Pie Day naturally involved pie. We had meat pies (pirozhki), cheese and onion pie, chicken pot pie, and apple and cherry pies, all homemade and amazing. We declared it a smashing success. The next food holiday will either be a Bundt Cake Day (because we apparently have 5 bundt cake forms in the house for some reason) or Cupcake/Muffin Day, as we have about a dozen of muffin pans. We are leaning towards Cupcake Day, as Bundt Cake Day does not offer the same kind of versatility (how many different bundt cakes can you make?).

And that is how it goes here at Muc Ráth Manor ('pig fort'). Yes, our house now has a name. We are currently divvying up titles. Banner and official stationery to follow. Maybe we´ll even have a motto (in Pig Latin, of course).
