Day 5 of the sit last night. We got home later than usual, and by the time we made and ate dinner, it was pretty late. I sat for only 10 minutes before I realized that I was just sitting there pleasantly dozing. Before that, though, I had very little trouble connecting with the breath. In fact, I noticed that even if I got distracted by something, a part of my attention was still on the breath. That was pretty interesting.
We had unagi-don for dinner last night, which was pretty lovely. I don’t really like the rice I bought last time, because they didn’t have the brand we usually buy. I’ll have to go see if they got it restocked.
I’ve been reviewing/studying Irish in earnest for the past week. I had to get the intermediate grammar book, because Progress in Irish keeps going back and forth between basic stuff and intermediate topics. Things I really don’t like at the moment: the stupid copula ‘is’ (why is it so damn not-intuitive? makes you feel like a retard because you struggle to make sentences like ‘John is my brother’), comparisons, and the blasted conditional mood. I am stuck on lesson 39 and I am staying there for a while, it seems. Well, at least until my intermediate book shows up from Amazon. Boo.
Last night I was looking at the bookshelves in our bedroom and thinking ‘damn, I should really read some of these books!’ The bedroom bookshelves house our fantasy/sci-fi/horror/speculative fiction/etc collection. I’ve read a chunk of it, I don’t really care about another chunk, and I really think I should read the rest. Therefore, I think I will make the next month The Month (Or Two) of Strange and Wonderful Fiction. I’ll reread stuff I love and finally read books that have been on my list for years. Stay tuned.
