I am preparing to go to Parents' Night at Jacob's high school, there to meet with his counselor and his teachers for the coming school year. I leave shortly.

And I can barely contain the effervescent joy of my anticipation for this ordeal.

The teachers will be glad you made the effort. I think the class with the most parents at my open house amounted to 20% of the students represented.

I've been to open houses where there were, no exaggeration, only fourteen parents in the building. So this is very true!

In one of Jacob's classes, we were the only parents who showed. She was pleased. And of course, we warned her that we were "*those*" kinds of parents, the ones who'll be e-mailing her weekly...
