This was another one of those videos that came spontaneously out of nowhere. I had my heart and head set on finishing a House/Cuddy one that I had started, and this song came on Party Shuffle and I dropped everything to do it. And it was a challenge in the sense that this is my first REAL time working with Wilson. But it was so fun and it just... came. There are videos that I really have to reach and pull for, and then there are videos that feel like they write themselves. And I worked with audio again! So if you like when I use audio, you'll like this one.

iPod - 18MB The main purpose of this video is to bring out the GOOD in the Tritter arc - friendship. How far you'll go for a friend. What you'll sacrifice, what you'll risk to protect someone you care about. How much you'll lie, and what you'll lie FOR. I really liked putting this together and reliving all of this because it helped me understand the Tritter arc in a way that I hadn't quite grasped yet. The Tritter arc wasn't just a stupid plotline that drug out for too long - it was a lesson in loyalty. And I really hope I was able to communicate that here, because that's how I see it now.
.) 0:15 - I faded to black and white as he popped the pill because it was at THAT moment that it all started - Tritter got what he needed right there, and in the next shot, you can see it on his face.
.) 0:22 - And now it starts for House too. It's begun.
.) 0:25-0:30 - I wanted to have an establishing shot of all of them being normal so that as the video progressed, we'd be able to see how that changed.
.) 0:34-0:38 - "years gone by", we just had a flashback from S1 & S2 of times when they were all three together, and in this last on here, we've got House on the left, Cuddy in the middle, Wilson on the right. When it flashes back to S3 color, notice they're all in the same place as they just were in the elevator. House pops a pill, which is what this whole thing revolves around, Cuddy gets stressed and gravitates towards Wilson's side of the screen, which kind of sets up this video by showing you that it's going to be Cuddy and Wilson being stressed together over House's drug addiction.
.) 0:48 - "what choice do we have?", 0:51 - (we're gonna fight for him), she speaks by way of the determination in her eyes.
.) 0:55 - my personal favorite part. "doctors are covering it up", and note the parallel of them each giving House his pills. I also love Cuddy's face as she sneaks him his Vicodin.
.) 0:59 - "you made a mistake", him forging prescriptions. this is kind of self-explanatory, but...
.) 1:02 - "we know"- shot of all three of them sitting there. To me, I hear "how are we going to beat this, what's our plan" when I see that scene. I see forgiveness on Cuddy and Wilson's part here.
.) 1:07 - Wilson begins to realize that this is going to get way worse before it ever gets any better.
.) 1:24-1:32 - and they all fall apart that night :(
.) 1:37 - I decided to echo and emphasize the "Got them on your side" in the song with Cuddy's "I made some calls for you - the guy's the best criminal attorney in Princeton". Because she IS on his side, trying to help him with all of that stuff. Same with Wilson in the following scene - he's there, he's with you. (& watch his blink on that piano)
.) 1:55 - Iiii... am a timing loser. As in, I obsess over it. So watch his face and his eyebrows and stuff.
.) 2:00 - a small turning point. They acknowledge that they're being defeated.
.) 2:06 - I wanted to emphasize her lyrics between the lines, "why'd you have to let it go", and again on 2:11, "can't you see you hurt me so". Because that was probably the meanest he's ever been to her. And it was because he was detoxing. Because of Tritter. Because of all of this crap.
.) 2:17-2:21 - Cuddy and Wilson are past the point of being nice - they're disappointed. Disappointment written on her face, and disappointment shouted out through Wilson's mouth.
.) 2:24-2:37 - they're directly asking/telling him to get help, mixed with shots of frustration and being upset. watch Wilson's timing on his head shake and how Cuddy snaps her head around on that click. IDK IT'S HARD TO EXPLAIN.
.) 2:43 - my favorite Cuddy line delivery ever. I was so pissed when it aired and there were credits over it.
.) 2:47 - this cut gave me hell. I decided I REALLY wanted to overlay a shot of him stealing the guy's pills as she was talking about it, in a sort of flashbackesque thing. I tried just cutting out her whole second shot here. But it didn't look right. So I tried keeping all of it, and adding it at the end. And that didn't look right either. So I literally, just shortened the Cuddy clip in frustration, like a smart aleck, AND I HIT PLAY FOR FUN AND I WAS HAPPY WITH IT. So it stuck. It just... worked (for me, at least).
.) 3:01 - this is the saddest section. the way Hugh does this, drinks like that, it's absolutely heartbreaking.
.) 3:06 - timing of his knocks.
.) 3:11 - one of the first things I added. That change in the music and those drums as he jumps - timing.
.) 3:24 - yaaay for editing - she's not even originally talking about the trial, but I chose to take it out of context and apply it to her perjury. because even though they didn't address it that much, it had to have been one of the most terrifying things she ever had to do. I can't even imagine. She quite literally risked EVERYTHING.
.) 3:30 - timing on the eyes.
.) 3:37 - eye timing again and it's meant to be a little parallel/continuation from when she just looked over at him on "i was awkward". I filtered "He never got the pills" with an echo and a reverb to emphasize the fact that THIS, right here, is what saved his ass.
.) 3:46 - listen to those drums on her exhale, because this ties in with the shot of this scene before - her telling Wilson about what it was like to perjur (sp?) herself. this conversation between her and Wilson is actually taking place AFTER the trial, after all is said and done... after they've won. And that's why her eyes light up and she gets a slight smile. It's over.
.) 4:00 - this. this is them. this is the whole point. It's what friends do. ♥
♥ as always, I'd love your thoughts. ♥
