Media Fails Again
17-year old Savannah Dietrich faces contempt charges for disobeying a court order and revealing the names of the two 17-year old boys who admitted to sexually assaulting her.
None of the news reports I have seen have published the boys names. It is a paternalistic and insulting position taken by the press. The whole point of having a free press is, I don't know, to report things.
The boys are, apparently, Will Frey III and Austin Zehnder, but it would be nice if the mainstream press would confirm it.
[FYI - I am okay with her being held in contempt, although I think the judge and the prosecution should use the discretion they have to avoid it. I think this type of court order is unconstitutional, but the problem is that she did not challenge the court order, she disobeyed it. That said, she chose to disobey the order and deserves the consequences, but there is no justification for the media to fail to report a story].
