The big news first: remember
flakey company? After I e-mailed them to say thanks for reviewing my resume I'll pass on the interview, they sent me an e-mail saying they had 1 more interview slot today. I called DH and after all that he agreed to come home early because he thinks the interview will make a good story later. The company was profiled on a Cable TV show a few yeas ago and we watched the clip so I know who I'll be interviewing with (about 90% sure as they don't offer me a name to ask for when I arrive.) Anyway DH is intrigued because they are indeed odd on this TV show. So my interview is at 4pm today. My intent is to go for interview practice/ experience.
When I couldn't find a sitter, I told myself it was a sign that this job was not to be. I decided to e-mail flakey company this morning and decline the interview. But then DH said he would come home early. So we decide I'll do it for experience.
So meanwhile I do a little praying and ask for a sign if what I am doing is the right thing. DH stops by the post office ( less than .5 from our house) and sees a notice on the bulleting board. A company down the street needs part time office help. Their hours are 7-3. My kid gets off the bus at 2:50 and this would be a 2 minute drive from my house. He bring sme the notice and I call. Not only s the job still available, the office manager asks me to stop by. She is especially interested because I live so close by (in bad weather I can do stuff at the office so she won't have to go in.) I talk to her and while the money sucks, she pretty much tells me I have the job. But she'll have to talk to the owner (her son.) I would be working 6-8 hours a week to start and the job might grow in time. Much of my work would be done very early morning and since DH doesn't go to work bright and early (he works into the evening to see him 2nd shift employees), he wil be able to stay with munchkin during the summer 1-2 mornings a week.
So I think I prayed for a sign and got one.
I think the message was loud and clear- I am meant to work this job near my home.
