Serpentello, Wolf Hall Series - Hilary Mantel
3.2K, NC-17, Henry VIII of England/Thomas Cromwell
The pitch is so perfect here, their voices are so spot on, it was chilling and hot and so in character, Cromwell playing with fire and Henry seeing only what he wants to see. Amazing.
Honeymoon in Transylvania, Addams Family (TV 1964)
1.3K, PG-13, Gomez Addams/Morticia Addams
Actually hilarious, great Lurch portrayal, and genuinely loved all the callbacks to canon. Oh, to have a pure love like Gomez and Morticia's love!
Fire or Clear, Top Gun (1986)
5.5K, PG-13, Tom "Iceman" Kazansky/Pete "Maverick" Mitchell
This was such a great post-canon look at how their relationship could develop, I read it twice. Really enjoyed their dialogue, the settings, the phone calls, the pining, ahhh i loved everything about this, and how unexpectedly sweet they were to each other. So good.
Not if I see you first, Stand By Me (1986)
1K, G, Chris Chambers/Gordie LaChance
A beautiful little post-canon vignette and Chris Chambers fix-it that had me a bit emotional tbh. It's a really lovely look at the future, hopeful and sweet.
(then) hand in hand to hell, The Lion in Winter (1968)
9.7K, NC-17, Geoffrey Plantagenet/Richard I of England
Okay, this was hot and awesome, and I loved the dirtyhotwrong of the brothercest but in fact it's the hurt/comfort and the fragility of Geoffrey's feelings and their inability to plainly show affection for each other, Richard's knowing descent into their illicit affair, their inability to express affection except with physicality, threats, always trying to get the upper hand until they are both getting what they want that makes this fic amazing to me. Loved this and how it fits into canon.
On the Intentional Use of the First Person Plural, The Eagle | The Eagle of the Ninth (2011)
2K, PG-13, Marcus Flavius Aquila/Esca Mac Cunoval
This is so sweet and lovely, a pre-slash/realisation of feelings/gay panic fic, I really loved it. They are literally planning for their future together but of course Marcus is oblivious and then he isn't and THEN HE GETS IT. IT's so good <3
Ain't No Prince Charming, Night at the Museum (Movies)
4.2K, PG-13, Jedediah/Octavius (Night at the Museum)
There's something so -and I say un-ironically, honest!- charming about this fic!! I love these movies and it's such a Jed thing to do, to go in search of Octavius, who has been kid(!!)napped! So sweet, and I loved the ending :D
Here's to the Night, Jurassic Park Original Trilogy (Movies)
2.9K, PG-13, Sarah Harding/Ian Malcolm/Nick Van Owen
This is just lovely, the found family trope is well used here, Sarah, Ian and Kelly claiming each other and Nick for themselves, the ability to give and receive comfort from the people who went through a traumatic experience with you.
Love's Strange (So Real in the Dark), IT - Stephen King
7.6K, PG-13, Bill Denbrough/Mike Hanlon
I'm a bit of a sucker for shared experiences changing people, bringing people together, and I really enjoyed this Time Loop fic. I've also shipped Bill and Mike forever, I think it's something to do with Mike, the Lighthouse Keeper and the memory of the Losers and of Derry, and Bill the writer, staying up all night, talking, writing down those memories, I think they'd have a lifetime of memories and thoughts and concepts to mull through. This was lovely.
If Only The Past Would Rest, IT - Stephen King
2.9K, M, Bill Denbrough/Mike Hanlon
This was so beautiful and bittersweet, and there's a conversation between the kids Bill and Eddie that made me a bit emotional, Eddie's mature beyond his years and it just rang so true to me <3 Also I just really loved the Bill/Mike here, really lovely interactions.
I have so many tabs open on my computer but I may not get time to read more before reveals, especially the longer fics that I've got hoarded up (all of you authors who write amazing 10K+ fics for Yuletide, I salute you!) and haven't gotten to yet so at least I can share these recs!
