Firstly, I hope you're all having a safe and happy break, whether you celebrate Christmas or not. Love and hugs to everyone!
Inappropriate hugs (read: gropes) to the lovely
yavannauk and the obscenely talented
motetus for brightening up my (mail)box with these gorgeous cards. GAH THOUGHTFUL BRADLEY!!! And if you'd like a closer look at Esca and Marcus as a Greek Pottery pastiche (minus the Jemima Puddle-duck Mug >.>) among other gorgeous holidays arts (HAN SOLO IN HIS WIFE'S BIKINI OMFG <3___<3) , check out this
awesome post of awesomeness. God but this artist is AMAZING!
Secondly,
The Arthurfest - how fucking awesome are all of you people? You all deserve cake, the prompters, the reccers, the fic writers and image sharers, thank you all so much for participating!! I am leaving it open until after the New Year. Now that the madness of the past three days is behind me I plan to return and fill every single unclaimed prompt with a ludicrous limerick, a rude haiku or a dick drawing. One can never have enough dick drawings. So please, if you're so inclined, keep playing with me. And each other. And most importantly, Arthur.
Thirdly,
YULETIDE! I am the luckiest bitch on the planet today as I relish my four (FOUR!!!1!) gorgeous stories across three tiny fandoms I cherish.
Cold Night - Winnetou fandom is 7 stories strong on AO3. Two of those are in English. I feel blessed to have had someone write one of those especially for me. Thank you, Author Anon, for writing a little snippet of what it's like for Charley to suddenly develop unexpected feelings for his blood brother, Winnetou. Sharing body heat will do that to you :D
Fate - A Brotherhood of the Wolf treat that's all about how Mani and Fronsac first meet, each knowing somehow that the other is meant to become the flipside of his coin. Bittersweet, with the introduction of Mani's young son- knowing what happens to all of Mani's tribe is a heatbreaking shadow over this story. Just lovely and wistful. None of them stood a chance with the weight of destiny over them.
A Chess Play - this cute and sexy treat for the Constantine fandom mashes my prompts of John and Balthazar dancing the UST dance / playing Chess in Purgatory to show a bit of a powerplay moment. I'm so happy this author decided to have a bit of fun with it :D
Dreamscapes -
BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF FIC. FOR MEEEEEE! Oh my god, this is AWESOME. I am not ashamed to admit I cried. Mani, an Iroquois native American is a complex character with an unknowable past. The story is set in the 18th Century and I can't believe this author's dexterity in giving me Mani's past, his history the way they did. It's just so beautifully done, I adore it and I would gush at you for hours about it, but I don't know that any of you would be interested. I just want to share this snippet with you. And if anyone on my flist is interested in this fandom, I NEED TO KNOW! This story made me cry, and it's got nothing much to do with currently suffering from OTPms, I swear.
“Are you an herbalist?” Mani asked. “Do you make medicine?”
Fronsac tilted his head, “In a fashion, but I believe in few of the spiritual forces of my people, or any people. I believe in the chemical properties of plants, and the power of the human mind.”
“And yet you excel in meditation and the forms,” Mani noted. He stroked his thumbs along Fronsac’s thumbs, then raised his hands to place one at Fronsac’s temple, and the other over his heart. “Perhaps your body believes something your mind cannot yet acknowledge.”
Looking at the forest canopy high above where the yellow bird now perched, Fronsac considered this. “Perhaps,” he said, and Mani knew this conversation would continue all their days together.
If you're looking for something beautiful and evocative, something a little different, I urge you to watch the film, read this story, love it with me. Here is a fanvid to whet your appetite.
