Beta Readers

Even the greatest heads produce finer thoughts when they have a sounding board, and a good editor can be a good author's best friend. I strongly encourage the use of a beta reader before posting your fic, the better to catch any typos, and maybe even to help you harsh out characterization kinks much earlier in the process.

I understand that finding betas can be difficult, so let there be assembled, an archived list of beta readers, much like what the BTVS Writer's Guild has, a list of names with contacts and preferences.

If you wish to volunteer as a beta, please comment in this post with your preferences, and your preferred method of contact. It will also be helpful to state your availability, for how much material and usually in how soon.

If you know any other Grindeldore fans who would like to beta, please direct them to this post! Thank you.

contact: Please use the LJ messaging system, and please title your post (subject heading: "beta needed for grindeldore fic").
preferences: One-shots, or a very short series. Gen, political...basically I love fics where canon events or issues are illustrated and addressed, character studies, etc.
dislike: Receiving fics where it's obvious that the author didn't even read over it once before sending it to me, such as the one that had a typo in every single line throughout the fic, I'm here as the second pair of eyes.
Note: I can be very blunt. Characterization is very important to me, especially in lemons, because how a couple behave with each other and how they feel during sex is very characteristic. (So yes, I would beta lime and lemon fics.)
Time: I think I could beta a fic around 1500 words in about four days. Or a week, depending on how busy my week is. If you send me something on Friday, you might even get it back on Sunday if I have a snowed in weekend...
