There are things I need to ask her, things we need to discuss. How unfair that we have this time together now, with her energies focused elsewhere. How unfair of me to even think of what could be considered something trivial. But I fear that when she goes back to DC, the moment will be lost and her home life and the priorities of the job will push the conversation further and further down the road until it loses all relevance. But I often worry for nothing.

Addendum - as I was lying down to sleep tonight it hit me with a full force ton that I hadn't realized until now. I'd ignored the inevitable changes that are coming for me and Jenny. Our hurrahs are perhaps over. She is now a mother and still an agent. She is a wife and wants to be.

Suddenly, I wonder where that leaves me other than wrapped in her heart.

How selfish. How unfair. How real.
