Serious Conversations (for j_doggett)
It's been a morning.
She hasn't slept yet, which isn't uncommon since Kort attacked her in the hospital. She sleeps during the hot period of the day, when there are no shadows to hide her demons. So she sits on the porch, staring into the heat of the smoky blue sky, wishing for monsoon season to start.
In her bedroom, Adam sleeps. He showed up on her doorstep early and she'd been tempted to throw him out, but the look on his face when he saw her changed her mind. Did she really seem so different? He'd been exhausted and she needed to talk to John, so she put him to bed. They can talk later. Right now, she can only handle one thing at a time. So she waits for John to get his ass up to the main house to talk.
