Jail time

I know someone who is currently in the metro jail out on the west side. He was on probation, and he drank alcohol on the day of the Super Bowl. I can't defend him, but I can say that he's a good guy, and I feel very sad for him to be locked up right now.

Can anyone here tell me about their experiences being locked up (for more than a few hours). I've temporarily disabled IP logging for the community, so please feel free to tell me about it.

Is there anything I can do to make it a little less awful for him?
