This isn't really a question (well not until you get to the bottom), this is more like venting. I live in a new community and we have terrible problems with the mail. There are so many letters that we don't get. I can count now on both hands how many bills I've gone more than a month without seeing. I keep tabs on them on line though.
There is a new mail carrier every week. The mail rarely gets here before 5 pm. Anything I have going out Monday won't even get postmarked until Tuesday. I speak to the new mail carrier each week and ask them what's the problem. Here are the answers they give me:
1. "You guys aren't on the map." Well when I called the post office to complain today, the lady pulled up my address and a map of it without a problem. She said we are in the system and never believe them when they tell me that.
2. "No one wants to come work out here because it is so far out. Everyone is forced to do this route at least once. Which is why we don't hold delivering the mail way out here at a high priority." Sounds like they don't want to do their job, and we're paying for it!
Another mail carrier told me something contrary to that last excuse: "No one is forced to work anything. They simply give these unwanted new routes to new employees, and since most of them are new to Abq, they don't know what they're doing." I think that's a load of *****! And finally, this last one is the kicker: "No one wants to come out here because they're afraid of the area. I've delivered mail to several people out here that were either murdered, raped and murdered, run over, shot, stabbed, beaten to death, head on collision, or just went missing. Other drivers have had similar experiences and that's why they don't want to come out here." I was so taken aback by that. I live here and I don't even know of any people dying like that in this area. It's very quiet. Everyone knows everyone. And besides that, even if it were true that's not a reason in my opinion. People die, sometimes naturally, sometimes at the hands of others. It's not like there's a curse on anyone that lives out here or not. Trust me, in the time I've lived here there has been one murder (drug related) and one deadly accident in which one person was killed. That's it!
Apart from the lazy mail carriers the post office is not much better. I drop letters off there at it takes at least a week to get to where it's going (AZ, CA) and vice versa.
My question, for anyone out there that moved to Albuquerque from a big city, do you find the mail slow here.
