This is a wonderful fic. I love the characterisation, Beru most of all, and as always, the dialogue. You've got a gift for writing dialogue.

"Dead." This lie is easy. This lie is true.

Brilliant choice of words there. A true lie. Only "Ben" Kenobi would be thinking like that.

"I didn't know the mother. None of us did."

This lie is true...

*hugs* Aww, thank you, hun. You're so sweet to say that <3

and oh, Ben. And Padmé. And denial. So very fun to write about.

How are you, hun? feeling better?

Yeah, I'm fine now. But my muse is deader than yours.

Btw, I was browsing old issues of jedi_news and I found some very interesting meta. :D You might not agree.

And, hmmm. I agree that the first one was very interesting, but I disagree with the second, and the third? Naaaah.

*hugs back*

but I disagree with the second

Do elaborate please!

As for the third one, I think it did make a few good points (if you take out the Obi-Wan factor), but it depends on how you define "love". I, personally, agree with the author when (?)she claims that what Anakin felt for Padmé wasn't love but a kind of obsession:

He may very well have thought that he loved her, but love is not love which cannot contemplate letting go. That is greed and the desire to possess, and once a body starts mistaking want for need and craving for love, that person truly is lost.

But on the other hand, I can understand the argument that maybe, actually, Anakin loved her - too much, and that's why he lost control and almost murdered her when he thought she had betrayed him. Her supposed betrayal was so painful precisely because he loved her so much. According to some psychologists, it's a common mentality in men who kill their wives "out of love" (it's one of the reasons why A/P creeps me out, and not in a good way). Look at these articles - I ( ... )

I don't know ... I just feel like in both cases, the authors are deliberately looking at the relationship from a certain point of view in order to make it seem overly unrealistic and ... okay, I lie, what really gets me is the whole subgenre of A/P which is all "Anakin isn't good enough for Padmé" or which bash Anakin to make Padmé seem like a stronger character and it really pisses me off :/

I think that Anakin did love her too much. Thanks for the articles -- you feed my psychology nerd <3

A certain point of view? Whatever do you mean? ;)

That's ridiculous! Padmé is far from perfect. They are both deeply flawed characters. See, this is one of the reasons I don't read A/P fics - Padmé is always out of character. She's not an angel, damn it, people. She's as flawed as Anakin, though in different ways, and that's the way she should be. If you want to write about a "strong" character, pick Leia or Mara or someone else instead of "changing" Padmé to fit that role.

Glad to help. <3

And this is why I ship A/P -- in an ideal world, it's a pairing about two flawed characters brought together by a love that ultimately destroys them, not about an unworthy man falling in love with a pure angel :/
