beat em ups

is it just me or is the beat em up genre of games becoming extinct. There only seems to be 3 beat em ups that have come out in the last few years, being soul calibre 4, street fighter 4, and tekken 6. All three of these games are from old franchises that are well past their prime, although i hear that street fighter 4 is pretty good in an old skool ( Read more... )

There's Tatsunoko vs Capcom on the Wii. It's an old-school 2D beat 'em up. As to whether or not it's any good though I'm not sure. Also if there hasn't been a new Gekitou Ninja Taisen game recently it probably won't be long 'til there is. And do you not count the Smash Brothers games? Not a big fan of them myself but I know a lot of people are.

i dont have a wii due to lack of "proper" games released for it and smash brothers i could never get to grips with, tis a bit of a busy game and i cant even tell where i am half the time lol

I agree, Beat-em ups are a dying breed. Its all just the struggling sequals that keep coming out!

BlazBlue Calamity Trigger on 360 and PS3 is awesome.
Lovely 2D graphics, really in depth fighting system, just incredible.
