Lolz! Okay girls and boys are you ready for this?

It seems that our beloved NME is writing an article about bandslash. *cue festive music, party hats, and nervous twitching*

SO! We've been asked for our input.

from the email: What they want to know,

Who they write about, where we can read it, why they like writing slash, and ( Read more... )

lolz, !modpost

Um. Without meaning to start shit, is it okay just to comment here and say thanks but no thanks? In as much as I'd just rather not have anything to do with it?

Word.

They can quit trying to make my counterculture statements mainstream.

None of my friends read NME, so.

I'm sorry, I don't see how that's relevant.

Obviously it is a v important statement that has tons to do with your earlier comment! Can't you read?!

Just meant I wouldn't mind being pictured/exposed/whatever.

I agree with you, though.

It's not just about whether or not your friends see it--most of my friends read NME, and it's not that I'm worried about them. I don't want what's my subversive appropriation of a certain culture within a community turned into a spectacle, used for commercial gain.

If I want my writing to be used to turn a profit, I'll write for a publishing house, or for a magazine.

YMMV.

Of course. I know there will be plenty of people that will want nothing to do with it at all, and that's ten times of ok.

Also, I really hope people don't stress out about being "exposed" again :( The last thing I want from this is more drama.

Hmm. Me neither, and I don't want to come over as though I think everyone who writes slash should hide under a rock and never be exposed to the light of day, but... yeah. I guess I'm not comfortable with my stuff being read by people who don't have a certain frame of reference, or don't 'get' slash. Good luck with it though.

I completely understand your inhibitions, because you know..well you know.
But I think it's just really for a laugh.. I hope :/

Yeah, I'm a little worried about it too, to be honest. The fact taht they want to do a how-to guide makes me think it's not a malicious thing though.

I can't help but wonder at the concept of a "how-to guid,". and can't help but see that as anything but a joke. Whether or not it's a joke at "our" (the slashers'!) expense, though ...

Well, I can only assume that a how-to guide would be done witha sense of humour. I dont see anything wrong with that, though.
