Dear England,

YOU ABSOLUTE SHOWER OF SHITE.

A majority woeful, pitiful, idle, unmotivated performance when we really needed you to step up to deliver a performance of which you were all supposedly more than capable of producing.

There were only three players on the pitch who genuinely wanted to play for their country & that is fucking laughable. We entirely deserve to be staying at home this summer. Still, at least you can use the time off along with your outrageous and disproportionate wages & maybe take your WAGs on holiday to Barbados; fund a few drunken nights out that end in rape, mobile phone abuse or racist comments.

Beckham, who has undoubtedly seen better days, is still the only player England can count on under pressure. He created the only beautiful chance of the game; & for all his faults in leaving decent football to piss about playing five aside in La La Land, was the most dedicated player on the pitch. He gave everything he had, appearing in defence, midfield & upfront. Take note Wayne Rooney, Beckham has the composure that you still show no hint of finding, despite us being constantly told that you're 'maturing' into a 'world class' player. This means that you don't starting swearing & kicking the toys out of your pram the second a team mate doesn't land the ball at your feet. You absolute cunt.

Crouch, who despite being constantly passed over at both club & international level, was the most consistent player out there. Enthusiasm, pace & determination. Perhaps the lone striker theory meant his approach didn't rub off on anyone else.

Richards; who is about twelve years old for fucks sake; and yes, made some glaringly obvious schoolboy errors, but at least he had a fucking go; looked to be the only player trying to win.

Which, surprisingly, winning was what we needed to do. What we didn't need was this - somehow claw our way back to level pegging and then sit back and watch our opponents gain the lead again. Lazy, terrible arrogance when you should be honoured to play for your country & do your best; not withstanding the obscene amount of money you receive for such a 'privilege'.
Although it isn't possible to single out the worst performance; because as a team, mediocrity is the area in which we really excelled; special mention has to go to Gerrard. What an absolute disgrace; there are no suitable words to describe your performance.

I have nothing to say about Steve McLaren. He was always the wrong man for the job; (massive props for fucking Scolari up, FA) but this campaign could never have been entirely his fault. Disgraceful performances & implausible losses early on indicated something within the team was not right.
Carson was the wrong choice in such a high profile match, yes; but - he made the saves Robinson definitely wouldn't have & you never know what you're going to get with James. Actually, I really could criticise the choice of defence, tactics & all the rest of it if I wanted to.
But all of this is what the point is not, managers consistently get it in the fucking ear when the players should step up for their share of the blame. See: Martin Jol. You don't respect your manager? Boo fucking Hoo; try working a real job and slit your wrists over the problems you encounter there.

I've never been patriotic; I don't know what it means to love your country, or to take pride in every single thing we do. God knows, I couldn't give a fuck about cricket or rugby; and more to the point, I just don't like England very much. However, I take no pride in this England team & feel disgusted that a vile piece of shit like John Terry should be allowed to captain the team. Yeah, kick racism out of football & into Wembley, eh.

You may like to look to Scotland for an example of a real team - where they played with everything they had and could honestly say that they deserved better than the tough break they got. In their defeat, their fans could respect & applaud their effort whilst you lot get booed off the pitch at half fucking time.

Us, though? No passion, no courage & no performance.
On paper, we should have qualified. Even with the injuries (As an aside, just what is Michael Owen made out of? Entirely water?) we had enough players on that pitch who are highly thought of & critically acclaimed in the Premiership to make the most of the chance that we should never have been given. But when it came down to it? We got everything we deserved.

I am so disappointed. But not entirely surprised.

See you in a couple of years when all this has died down though, eh. By which point, I suspect you'll have learned nothing and I'll have forgotten everything. More of the same for 2010 then, yeah? Or you might just give us summat to be proud of. Hahahahahmmm. Pretty please - have a fucking word with yourselves.

Yours hopefully,

Disgusted of Bolton.

P.S. I'm forwarding you my CV for consideration in respect of the upcoming Manager's position. My tactics will include witholding wages of any kind & employing corporal punishment (Ten rounds with John Terry for disgraceful performances ought to cover it. Maybe Fat Frank could sit on them afterwards.) as a method of motivation. Also; and this is the genius bit, I intend to get Girls Aloud in to replace the majority of our players. Diversion tactics slash they'd probably put in a better performance, eh. I look forward to hearing from you.
