It's an ability that works correctly with two, a synergy, otherwise... )
The idea of Gabriel getting therapy is an interesting one, but would he respond to it? It might help for the depression, but what about the Narcissistic Personality Disorder? Even if he wanted to change, I don’t know if he can.
There’s something about your timeline I’ve been wondering about: Is this the original outbreak timeline before Peter went forward a year? There’s a lot of evidence that points to it being an alternate ending to season two, mostly due to Peter being alive. In the original timeline he died from the Shanti virus. It’s been a while since I’ve read your older stories, so maybe the answer is there and I just forgot.
Was that jealousy I sensed from Caitlin? Or was the narrowing of the eyes about a different kind of suspicion? Perhaps she thought Maya was just another desperate person trying to get cured. But she did ask her name…You have to tell us how Peter and Caitlin found each other again in this timeline.
The mention of healers in hospitals made me think of Claire’s healing blood. Where is she? Is that what she’s off doing? Because of her blood, I find it unlikely that she would die.
Hm, Nadia was born on December 21. That’s interesting. The longest night of the year, first day of winter, and it’s also the day when the world is supposed to end according to the Mayan calendar. Also: Nadia inherited the Sybrows? That’s going to be unfortunate for her when she hits her teenage years. Teenagers can be especially cruel about looks.
If Alejandro had the same ability, I wonder why he never snapped and accidentally killed people the way Maya did.
Can I just say you rock for giving the Haitian a name? It’s been a source of annoyance that a character who’s been around since season one still doesn’t have a name. Going to Haiti is a good idea. Maya can verify if what Lemay told her was true.

From what I’ve read people with NPD hardly ever respond well to therapy. Either they won’t admit that there’s anything wrong with them or they revel in their disorder. I think Gabriel is complicated. He can try to change but there’s always that suspicion of whether his empathy/love is real. Though I tend to think of him as a “Shy Narcissist” where the sufferer can feel compassion, is meek & gentle etc, but still lacks a sense of empathy but feels deep shame because he knows it. They’re more self aware. (The depression is part of the NPD.)
This does veer off from canon (with them sleeping together onwards) but I try to stick to canon as much as possible. He left Caitlin in the future, came back to his own time but then the virus being released changes things. I think he stayed a few months until his mother died and then went about trying to find her. I have written a bit about this but haven’t posted yet, need to iron out some wrinkles ;)
I wasn’t going for jealousy; she was just suspicious, she's quite protective of Peter and her home.
Yup Claire’s there and I think she would be doing that.
You know I screwed up here. She should have been born around Dec 10. But it gives me another story to play with, Maya being two weeks overdue… I think she looks like Maya but he’s got such dominating features so I think she’d have thick, arched brows (like Madonna’s daughter.) Her bolshie attitude is a cover for insecurities.
I’ve always wanted that to happen. He was a very calm, patient person (too much so, he never seemed grief stricken about his dead wife etc. I don’t think the writers spent enough time fleshing him or Maya out.) But if Maya can use his side of the ability (absorbing) then it stands to reason he could have used her side.
Actually that name is a spoiler. That’s really his name on the show. I always felt bad for always calling him the Haitian so I’m so glad that I can call him this now.
Thank you again for your reviews! I always intended for these three characters to part ways and go on different paths so I’m pleased it’s going over well. Though I miss them together already and will have to do my timeline jumping thing soon ;)

And Maybe Alejandro did mourn his wife. How long was it when he found her in the church? And he tried to have her arrested so ...

I think she was meant to be at the church for 2-3 months. Him doing that is so interesting. He could have asked her before calling the cops but I guess he thought she did it. Though like I've said before I don't think he thought she was evil, just unhinged and in need of “help.”

I don't think he thought she was evil either.

But he didn't have any second thoughts about her being crazy enough to kill his wedding guests. Maybe he always thought she was a few fries short of a happy meal (sane wise) and wanted to protect her as much as possible. Hmmm...
