Doi nodded, shot a smile at the butler and quickly returned to his phone call as he made his way towards the door at the opposite end of the room. He spoke fast enough and in such a low voice that Hyde couldn’t tell what language he was speaking, just that it wasn’t Japanese.
The four boys followed the butler out of the room obediently, each quietly admiring the mansion’s grandeur as they walked. They went back out into the entrance hall and up the curving staircase on their left. The hall above was decorated in a similarly monochromatic and classy style to the hall below. They traveled this way for a while before coming to a tall set of black double doors.
“Through here is your space. Feel free to roam about the building as you please, however, I’d recommend not disturbing things in the home-office section, if at all possible. The grounds around the building are also at your disposal. So please, explore in your free time. We want you to enjoy yourselves here.” The butler smiled at the chorus of mumbled ‘thank-you’s he received at this, and turned to push open the doors.
Inside was a big, comfortable, and homey looking square room. The floor was covered with thick carpet. Comfortable looking couches were arranged to one side around an expensive looking entertainment system. There was a long desk with four chairs in front of it next to a mini-fridge. To one side of the entrance there were a few arcade type games, and to the other side there was a small table and a chest shoved full of board games. The far wall was covered with floor to ceiling windows, and a matching set of French doors leading out to a small balcony. Besides that, there were four black doors -two on either side of the room- that each had one of the boys’ names on it in that same flowing gold script.
“How is it?” The butler asked, pleased and amused by their awed expressions. “This is the common area. Your bedrooms are through these doors.” He gestured towards the black doors in question. “You each get your own room, but you’ll share a bathroom with the person next door to you.”
“Hey, Tetsu! You’re next to me!” Ken grinned from where he’d wandered over to his assigned door.
Tetsu just nodded, having already noticed this. His hand was already on the door’s handle, and he turned it slowly, pushing it open to reveal his new room beyond.
It was simple but stylish, in a sophisticated sort of way. The room was mostly white with different shades of gray and black, but there were also soft yellow colored accents. The comforter on the four-poster double bed, for example, was in this bright, cheery color. That, and the skylight above the bed, was what really brightened up the room.
“Wow…” He breathed, turning to the white door in the room, which he knew must lead to the shared bathroom. “This is awesome…”
The bathroom was equally breathtaking. The top half of the wall was painted pristinely white, while the bottom half was covered in a pattern of small tiles. They were shiny, and mostly black or dark gray, but with a scattering of soft green, blue, and yellow here and there throughout. A black granite counter stretched against one of the shorter walls. Upon it sat a glass bowl sink and above it hung a wide, spotless mirror. There was a glass shower in one corner next to a dividing wall that separated the toilet from the rest of the space, and on the opposite side of the room was a large square bathtub. Tetsu’s eyes widened as he found, upon further inspection, that the walls surrounding three sides of the tub had water trickling softly down them.
“A… waterfall?” Tetsu murmured to himself. The water disappeared into drains on the ledge around the tub itself, but they were hidden by an arrangement of leafy, tropical looking plants and unlit candles in colors that matched the tiles.
“This is unbelievable, isn’t it?” Ken spoke, startling Tetsu who hadn’t noticed him enter through his own connecting door.
The shorter boy only nodded, his gaze turning towards the open door Ken had entered the bathroom through. The taller boy’s room was much the same as his own, except the accenting color was a soft green instead of yellow. As they finished their inspection of the bathroom, Ken declared that they should go see what the others’ was like, and dragged Tetsu along with him.
“Yo! Yuki-kun!” Ken grinned, knocking on the open door but not waiting for a reply as he strode in, pulling the other brunette behind him.
Yuki looked up from his position by the room’s only -but relatively large- window and frowned at the tallest boy. “…Yuki?”
“Um, Ken, I don’t think Yukihiro-san really wants a nickname.” Tetsu intervened, trying weakly to tug his jacket sleeve free from Ken’s grip. “I mean, he hardly knows y--“
“That’s fine! You can consider it a short-cut!” Ken chuckled. “It’s faster than saying ‘Yukihiro’ all the time.”
Yukihiro just stared at them, looking slightly incredulous while Tetsu shot him an apologetic look and Ken barreled on talking, examining the blonde’s room for the first time since his arrival there.
“Wah, yours is almost exactly like mine and Tetsu’s. Mine’s green though.” He pointed out looking thoughtful as he surveyed the place. “Yours is yellow, right Tetsu? That’s a really happy color I think. Red… Red seems like an angry color, don’t you think Tetsu? It’s nice though. I think it kind of suits you, Yuki-kun.” Ken laughed, holding up his hands as if to defend his remark. “I don’t mean that in a bad way though. Haha, but I guess you probably get what I’m saying anyway…” He found himself at the bathroom and strode in.
Yukihiro watched him go, the same expression still on his face.
“I’m sorry about him.” Tetsu apologized as though he were the one responsible for the taller boy’s behavior. “I don’t know why he’s--“
“Hey, Tetsu-kun!” Ken poked his head out from the open bathroom door. “Their bathroom’s the same as ours, as far as I can tell. Come on, let’s go see Hideto’s room!” He waved his arm for the brunette to follow after him and then turned his gaze to Yukihiro’s. “Have you been over there yet?” No response. “Well, you should come with us then!”
“…” Yukihiro stared blankly at him for a moment before turning away. He rested his elbows on the windowsill and stared out. As far as Tetsu could tell from where he was standing, the blonde boy still had a vacant expression on his face.
Ken frowned for a second, but didn’t seem particularly fazed by the fact that the other boy was blatantly ignoring him. He gestured again for Tetsu to follow him and promptly disappeared inside the bathroom again with a grin plastered to his face once more.
Tetsu followed half-warily. This guy’s overly jubilant behavior was starting to make him wonder if he should be amused or nervous. Either he was naturally a super-positive and extremely friendly person, or he was on some kind of drugs.
