“What the hell?... What the hell?!” Hyde paced back and forth in his living room, mind whirling at what he and Yukihiro had witnessed less than an hour ago.
Yukihiro shook his head, not even listening as he stared a hole through the carpet. “I had no idea…”
“I can’t believe this!” Hyde exclaimed, shocked. “I mean, what the hell?!”
“I know… I didn’t think Ken-… I mean, he’s always been…”
“Fond of boobs, I know! What the-“ He broke off, dropping onto the couch beside the blonde. “This is difficult.”
Yukihiro glanced up. “Well, maybe.” Hyde raised an eyebrow. “Just… I always thought Tetsu was… Uh, well, he just never seemed…”
“Fond of boobs?”
Yukihiro frowned. “Or women in general.”
“I’m gonna have to agree with you.” Hyde chuckled, leaning back with a sigh. “So if we’re right about his orientation, then that makes things a little less difficult.”
“I’m not sure how comfortable I am with playing matchmaker.”
“Too bad. It has to be done.”
Yukihiro sighed and immediately looked afraid when Hyde brightened, leaning in towards him and grinning gleefully. “….What?”
“Let’s double date!”
‘H-huh??”
Hyde burst out laughing. “It’s a great idea! We can set them up!”
“I highly doubt they’ll agree to… double date… with us.”
Hyde rolled his eyes, hesitating only momentarily before putting an arm across the blonde’s shoulders. “Of course not. We won’t tell them it’s a date. I’ll get Tetsu to go somewhere with me, and you bring Ken.”
“It won’t work. Even if they don’t walk out right away, it’ll just be long and tense and awkward.”
Hyde hummed, thinking. “You could… seduce him.”
“What?!”
“It’s a classic tactic! Make Tetsu jealous enough to realize he cares! You can pretend you thought Ken liked you and you’re madly in love with him! You don’t have to worry about him reciprocating or anything so-“
“Hyde, stop! I can’t s-seduce him! Even if it’s fake, I-… That’s just something I’m definitely not comfortable with!”
“Hey, I don’t like it either, okay? I’d seduce Tetsu if I could but- Ehh… well, not that I want to, just to get you out of doing it to Ken. But, it’s pointless getting Ken jealous. You’ll be fine. I mean, it’s just acting, right?” He rambled.
“Hyde…” Yukihiro almost whined, knowing by the determined look on the vocalist’s face that he wouldn’t be getting out of this one.

“Hyde, what’s going on? It’s kinda cold out here…” Tetsu complained, looking faintly amused and even more perplexed from where he was standing on the wooden deck of a mid-sized boat that Hyde had apparently borrowed for the evening from one of his eccentric singer friends.
“Just a second!” The vocalist called from the control room, busy anchoring them out a ways in the harbor. The engine died and then the light in the control room did a moment later, leaving the deck in darkness.
Tetsu frowned, waiting for his eyes to adjust to the moonlight. “Hyde? What are you do-?” He froze as the little boat was suddenly lit by strings of tiny, white, bauble lights, hanging like a glittering canopy over the deck. Their soft glow lit some of the water around them, turning the gentle waves gold.
Hyde appeared a moment later, strolling into view with a grin. “How is it?”
“It’s… beautiful.” Tetsu managed, still taking it all in. “But… why?”
Hyde shrugged. “I thought it’d be pretty.” He paused, crossing the space between them and eyeing the bassist carefully. “Are you mad?”
Tetsu frowned. “…No?”
“Good.”
“Should I be?”
“No…”
There was a noise from the stairs leading to the cabin below the deck. Tetsu’s gaze turned in that direction and Hyde checked his watch.
Show time…
“Oh, HA HA HA, you’re hilarious Ken-chan!”
“…I didn’t even say anything.”
Hyde refrained from slapping a hand to his forehead. Tetsu stiffened, watching as Yukihiro appeared at the top of the stairs dragging a frowning guitarist by the arm. Ken looked up as they reached the deck, stopping in his tracks as he caught sight of the bassist. For a long couple of seconds they stared at each other, and then Tetsu turned to Hyde with a murderous glare.
Hyde gulped.
“Uh… I know you guys-“ He had to remind himself that Tetsu and Ken had no idea they’d been spied on. “-haven’t been getting along very well lately, but I think tonight is a good opportunity for everyone to just relax and reconcile.” There was silence. Tense, angry, silence. “… It was Yuki’s idea.”
Yukihiro joined in the glaring momentarily before switching to an overly happy smile when Ken and Tetsu’s gazes turned to him. He clung tighter to Ken’s arm, looking up into the guitarist’s angry and confused expression. “It’s been a while since we spent any quality time together!” Maybe true for the four of them, but Ken and he had done nothing but for the past bunch of months.
“This is unnecessary. You guys don’t need to interfere.” Tetsu said icily. He turned back to Hyde. “Take us back to shore.”
“No can do. We’re out of fuel.”
“What?? Are you serious?!”
Hyde grinned cheekily. “Maybe I am, and maybe I’m just not taking us back until morning. No matter what.”
Ken groaned. “I can’t believe this… You’re both crazy.”
“Crazy in love!...” Yukihiro responded, twitching slightly as he let out an awkward giggle.
Ken frowned like one might at a potentially dangerous animal. “…Are you okay?”
Hyde sighed, shaking his head as he wandered off in search of something to help their mission. He returned with a folding card table, set it up in the middle of the deck, and then called Yukihiro to help him fetch four folding chairs and one of the small coolers from the storeroom below.
“Can’t you act a little more natural?” Hyde whispered as they descended the stairs.
Yukihiro sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Sorry… this is just too weird.”
Hyde smirked somewhat humorlessly. “Never seduced a guy before?” Yukihiro shook his head. “Don’t think of it as being any different than it would be with a girl.”
“Err, well I’ve never ‘seduced’ anyone before… actually…”
“Really? Well, that explains some things…” He laughed, watching the blonde blush as they approached the open storage room door. “Just… I don’t know what to tell you. Try and forget that you’re acting, cuz Tetsu’s not gonna buy it otherwise.”
Yukihiro sighed again, nodding as he accepted three chairs from the vocalist and then starting back towards the deck.
Ken and Tetsu were standing on opposite sides of the space with their backs to each other, staring out over the water. Hyde and Yuki busied themselves with setting the chairs up around the table and then Hyde opened the cooler. “Who wants a drink?”
Despite his usual aversion to alcohol, Yukihiro immediately accepted one, not hesitating at all to twist the top off the beer and gulp down the first few mouthfuls. Ken and Tetsu agreed to some beer too, and Hyde coerced them into sitting across from each other at the table. As they joined their silent band mates, Yukihiro -of course- took the seat next to the guitarist.
“So, Ken.” He began, sliding his chair closer to the taller man’s. He paused, clearly not knowing what to say next. He licked his lips, thinking, then paused and licked them again in a more suggestive manner. Ken blinked. “You… left some of your things at my place. You’ll have to drop by some time and… pick them up.” He winked.
“Uh… Yeah, sure.” Ken answered, looking away and swallowing another mouthful from his bottle.
“Soon?” Yukihiro asked hopefully, leaning in and tugging Ken’s sleeve to get his attention again. “Please say soon! I don’t know how long I can wait to get you… sprawled out on my couch again…”
Hyde had to fake choking for a second as he laughed into his drink. The bassist sitting beside him didn’t even notice. He was staring intently at Ken, waiting for his reaction.
Ken smiled awkwardly. He was either completely oblivious to the underlying suggestion in the drummer’s words, or sincerely hoping he was imagining it. “Um, okay. If it means that much to you…”
“Of course it does!” Yukihiro pouted, sliding closer and resting his cheek on Ken’s shoulder. “I can’t stand being apart from you…”
“Oh.” Ken shifted uncomfortably. “That’s… nice.”
“Oh yes, it’s really nice.” Tetsu smiled coldly. “Congratulations. You guys make a nice couple.”
Hyde coughed quietly, using his hand to cover a pleased smirk.
Ken looked alarmed. “Couple? No, it’s not-“
“Such a nice couple, in fact, that I have to wonder why either of you might ever want to pursue anyone else!”
“Oh, I don’t want anyone else. Ken is my one and only!” Yukihiro grinned at the mushy declaration.
Ken was stunned, unable to respond to or deny anything as he tried to figure out just what the heck was going on.
“And how would you feel if someone told you your dearest Ken-chan wasn’t satisfied with just one devoted lover?”
“I wouldn’t believe them. I’m sure Ken loves me.” He smiled and when Tetsu didn’t respond he stood up, circling around to the back of Ken’s chair. “You look tense. Here, let me.” His hands hovered uncertainly for a split second before he began massaging the knotted muscles in Ken’s shoulders. This contact was enough for Ken to snap out of his confused daze. He immediately began trying to push the blonde’s wandering hands away, being largely unsuccessful as Yukihiro would just dart out of reach.
“What- cut it out! Why are you doing this?!” He exclaimed, standing up as the drummer dared to slip his arms around Ken’s neck and graze his fingers teasingly across his chest.
“Because, I care about you.” Not technically a lie, but he neglected to mention the ‘as a friend’ part. “You know that.”
Ken gaped at him and the blonde pouted.
“I mean, I think I’ve made it very obvious how I feel for you, Ken-chan…” He paused, sauntering closer to the bewildered guitarist and looping his arms around his neck. “Especially after… last night…”
“W-what?...” Ken began. He hadn’t been anywhere near the drummer since that disastrous practice the previous afternoon.
Tetsu stood up, looking furious and -if Hyde wasn’t mistaken- a little hurt. “Last night? So that’s how it is. Mess around with me and when it doesn’t work out you go back to your other plaything!”
Yukihiro grinned, not even trying to look unhappy with this turn of events, but Ken looked horrified.
“Tetsu, no! I-“
“Save it, Ken. I don’t even care.”
“But Tetsu, I swear-“
“Just shut up! I don’t want to hear excuses from you right now, or ever for that matter!”
“Yuki, come help me find the fireworks!” Hyde called, his voice going largely unheard by the other two band members. This was the signal to retreat, so Yukihiro quickly unhooked his arms from around Ken’s neck and scurried to follow the vocalist down the steps to the lower level.
“That was so embarrassing…” The blonde whined, crouching with the vocalist at the base of the steps.
Hyde chuckled. “You did fine. Better than I expected, actually.”
He shook his head slowly, almost dazed. “I’ll never be able to look at him again.”
“I doubt that.”
“And Tetsu’s gonna eat me alive.”
Hyde paused. “Well… maybe.” He saw the devastated look on Yukihiro’s face and hurried to reassure him. “For now let’s just make sure they don’t kill each other, and then we’ll explain things properly. Hopefully, they’ll thank us.”
Yukihiro groaned. “I’m so dead…”

Anyway, I thought I should get this out before I go home for Thanksgiving weekend.
