California is a great place to visit, but I don't think I could live there. The mountains are amazing (and rather steep - I hiked to the top of two of them) and the Pacific Ocean was gorgeous. I also got to drive through the Central Valley and the Mojave Desert, which were very cool. The landscapes all looked raw (numerous rock outcrops) and unfinished (there wasn't all the trees I'm used to seeing). However though the land was green when I visited, I knew that shortly the rain would stop for the year and the hills would turn brown. Also I knew that since summer is my least favorite time of the year, California would not suit me once spring was through. That being said, it was neat to see a community that was very environmentally aware. And I wish for there to be a Trader Joe's in my area.
San Fransisco? That sounds neat - I was south of there in San Luis Obispo.
And ARGH I still haven't settled the "Dragon Dreams" nitpick. I am so lazy. I sympathize with you - now that the competition is over I no excuse to slack anymore on my other classes.
Oh BTW I only read the first few chapters of Wicked so far. You're ahead of me. I've gotten distracted by The Phoenix Guards by Steven Brust. It is his backstory to his Jhereg series and he modeled the book on Dumas' The Three Musketeers. Except, you know, not in French. It is very engrossing. But I've not given up on my story.
Cool! :-D Yeah I love the Pacific Ocean too. I actually haven't gone around much in the West Coast. I want to go to Little Tokyo in SF again ^^;;
Saw the Grand Canyon from a helicopter just at sunrise, but was too sleepy to fully appreciate the view lol.
Yeah Trader Joe's is awesome. Lots of ethnic products from overseas, but they're still cheap! I love Trader Joe's soymilk.
Hm, reserved The Phoenix Guards from the library, and currently have lots of books from the library again lol. I have Good Omens (finally!), The Golden Compass, Michael Ende's Momo, Princess Bride, Hoot, The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents and Daniel Quinn's Ishmael.
Why haven't I discovered Terry Pratchett sooner, why? *fangirl*
And I have a Crowley!Harry/Aziraphale!Draco fanart by Glockgal that begs to be icon-ified. Plus this quote is ♥: "Aziraphale was an angel, but he also worshiped books." *wish for more icon space*
